HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Marina Advisory Committee - 05/04/2009MINUTES AUG Regular Meeting `' 2QG9 Marina Advisory Committee L TYSECRET May 4, 2009 ARY'S OFFICE Members Present: John Adams (2), Marie Adams (4), Rakesh Patel (3), Roy Pell, Dr. Robert Vega (1), and Hal Suter (1) Members Absence: Robert Cagle (4), Dan Leyendecker (3), and Nils Stolzlechner(4) Staff Present: Sally Gavlik, Director of Parks & Recreation, Peter M. Davidson, Marina Superintendent and Teresa Williams, Marina Specialist Call to Order: Chairman Pell called the regular meeting of the Marina Advisory Committee to order at 5:30 p.m. Action of Minutes: The motion was made by Ms. Adams, seconded by Dr. Vega, to approve the Minutes from 03/02/09, Regular Meeting as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Presentations and/or Public Comment: David Lark commented about picnic tables at and trash around the new Corpus Christi Yachting Center, dogs not being on leashes, that the Peoples Street Boaters' Facility lacks items provided in the Lawrence Street facility, and concern about the future possibility of bands at the Yachting Center. Gene Gill commented his concern about too many fishing lines being on the docks, his concern about loud music/noises emanating from the Yachting Center at night and on weekends, the lack of police patrols; and requested a bike rack. Bob Blackett commented about the loud music/noises coming from the Yachting Center at night and on weekends and about the Yachting Center not maintaining the grounds/waters surrounding that facility. All expressed concern about the lack of emergency ladders in the Marina. Ms. Gavlik commented that leash law signs would be posted throughout the Marina. Chairman Pell commented that some requests i.e. furniture for the Peoples Street facility could be funded through the newly formed Friends of the Corpus Christi Marina. Chairman Pell commented about and asked who should be contacted to address the lack of police patrols to address drivers speeding/going the wrong way on landmasses. Ms. Gavlik advised that Police Department should be contacted for such issues as well as the noise law. Committee Reports: None offered. Director's Report: Mr. Davidson commented that the Marina Occupancy is 70% and that the Marina's Budget is making its' way through the City accountants then on to the City Council for consideration/approval.
