III. Public Comment:
Reggie Davidson from DADS-State Department of Aging and Disability Services brought literature and wanted to introduce
himself to the Council. Appreciated the efforts of the Council and hopes to work with us in the future. He hopes to set up a
meeting with Coordinator A. Rowe, Disability liaison and Senior Wellness Liaison
Patty Glass from Silver Sneakers greeted the Council and offered her services for seniors through Medicaid. She extended
her services for health education.
Michelle Acebo from Yoga Studios of Corpus Christi stated that her free classes(Tuesdays @7-8pm at Cole Park& Sundays at
1:45, Meditation @ 3pm were not being advertised to the best of their ability. Asked for the Council's assistance with
marketing. V. Garza to follow up.
IV. Business for Discussion with Possible Action
o Harbor Half Presentation-Jayne Woodall,Junior Achievement& Chad Wilfong,Valero briefed the group on the
successes of Junior Achievement and the need for funding to support the non profit. S. Elliff reaffirmed that the
kid's portion of Harbor Half is not a fundraiser, but the race itself is. R. Hayley asked about disability component. J.
CO Woodall stated that because Harbor Half's logistics are already planned that organizers would look into event next
eyar.
o J. Bell moved to support Harbor Half
o R. Hayley moved to second
Z o Conflict of Interests, Lisa Aguilar, Legal Department- Presentation attached. Over 30 commissions and committees.
�l The Council is one of two who award sub grants at this time. L.Aguilar to follow up on term of"Business
Solicitation."

o Subcommittee Reports
■ Special Events/Outreach
o Social Media : Awaiting logo for creation of Facebook page.
o Upcoming Local and Signature Events-tabled
o Farmer's Market-tabled
o Fit& Free-tabled
o Family Relay-tabled
o Guidelines for Support-V. Garza asked for guidance in developing the MFC guidelines. A standard
application, stating wants, in-kind contributions and services provided. C.Valls encouraged that monies stay
locally and use grading scale as part of criteria.T. Fitzpatrick wished to solidify processes quickly as the
Council is not prepared to award monies at this time. V. Garza stated that we would use Arts &Cultural
Committee as template. Guidelines would be prepared by next meeting.
o Jamba Juice Support-Community Board available for use at Jamba Juice on Everhart.
o Tejas Broadcasting Support-Offered 100 spots per month for Council events.
• Education/Awareness Subcommittee: J. Lapointe hopes to develop lasting structure of the Council as a whole.
J. Bell advised that Bold Future minutes reflected many goals of the Council. S. Elliff to follow up with this
subcommittee with guidance.
• Process Subcommittee: Has not met. R. Hayley, A. Rowe and V. Garza to attend Governor's Strategic Plan
planning meeting (pending approval by board).
o Ratify and Confirm Expenditures (Active 2020 Travel): Motion carried.

o Corpus Christi Paddle Prix& Rally, Stacie Talbert, Parks & Recreation Dept: Mayor wished to create event unique to
Corpus Christi. Parks& Rec partnered with Port of Corpus Christi for this event. Corpus Christi has a huge kayaking
community. This is a family oriented activity. This event would be a qualifier for Fit City. Race launch to occur at
7:30am, Rally to occur at 8:15am. Parks& Rec has 18 kayaks available for Community Youth Development Program
kids. Proceeds to benefit improvement to current boar launches along Nueces River.

W. Spenst asked if this event would make without financial support from the Council. S. Talbert and A. Rowe
agreed that it would not. J. Lapointe motioned for support at$3,000. R. Hayley second. Motion carried.
V. Identify agenda items to be placed on next agenda: Event Form and Outreach Approval.
