V. Business for Discussion with Possible Action:
o Approval of Guidelines for Mayor's Fitness Council ("MFC")Support of Local Programs which address MFC goals-
Venessa Garza addresses the guidelines,which were mirrored closely by the Arts&Cultural Commission. There are
two phases of the grant for two separate actions: monetary support and/or endorsement of the Council.

by Youth, Medical Initiatives, Senior Wellness, and Governor's Liaisons. Projects were approved as submitted

R. Kinnison asked that budget updates be running agenda item hereafter. Status updates on aforementioned
approved projects will also be running agenda item.
VI. For Informational Purposes:
o National Recreation and Parks Association's IACHIEVE Grant- Stacie Talbert advised the group on a grant submittal
to the National Recreation and Park Association for$40,000. With feedback from G.McBath, W. Spenst, R.
Kinnison, S. Elliff, V. Garza and A. Rowe, the grant included creating a media campaign to drive Hike & Bike Trails on
the 2012 Bond Election for any new construction thereby creating safer routes to schools and fitness components
in all new developments. The other element would create a mobile farmer's market at local schools that have
Senior Centers in close proximity- most in lower socioeconomic areas. Children would be rewarded with vouchers
for farmer's market for good behavior, picking up after themselves,grades, attendance, etc. Grantees will be
awarded in mid to late July.
o Corpus Christi Paddle Prix and Rally: More than 25 paddlers participated in the inaugural event. The event
received very favorable press. Feedback was asked by the racers who asked that the event be held later in the day,
hold registration up until day of event. The event will be held every year in October.
