III. Public Comment: Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the committee from responding and
discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes members to make a statement of factual information,
recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry, or advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at
a later date.
Jon Perez, a City Code Enforcment officer introduced himself to the Council and remarked about successes of P9OX
and losing 70 pounds as a result since May. Using Facebook, Perez is encouraging others to check into it. He is
working on forming "Team Beach Body."

V. Business for Discussion with Possible Action:
o Additional Fitness Council Projects as submitted by members-Scott Elliff, W. Spenst discussed a new project:
"Prescription Pads," which would drive folks to a website with compreshensive information. Spenst will be working
with Dr. Campos, Medical Society,the City of Corpus Christi for templates. Project will be called the "Mayor's
Fitness Council Fitness Prescriptions."
o Current Budget Report-Angela Rowe-Deferred to next meeting
o' Mayor's Fitness Council Vacancy-Council reviewed submissions. Mary LaFrnacois was nominated.

o Mayor's Fitness Council Date Change: G. McBath stated that she had conflict moving the meeting to the last
Wednesday of the month, but could move around if needed.

VI. For Informational Purposes:
o National Recreation and Parks Association's IACHIEVE Grant- Stacie Talbert advised that Council and Parks&
Recreation Deparment would be recipients of $40,000 of grant submitted earlier in the year. Elements of the grant
include mobile farmers markets at Senior Services facilities that have close proximities to schools in disadvantaged
areas and to create a media campaign around hike & bike trails and increasing interest and activity in safe routes to
schools. A. Rowe will attend Coaches Meeting in Atlanta in early March.
o Subcommittee Reports-
o Jump with Jill-The Community wide event is scheduled for March.
o Farmer's Market- Dr. Campos will be on maternity leave for next two months. Will update upon return.
o Wave Ski Paddle Race- R. Hayley to set up meeting with Parks & Rec. Working on dates to ensure on
conflicts with spring events and tide.
o 6 Points TEXERCISE- Updates to flyer made to include logos & FREE. Working on eblast & ad in the Caller
Times. Speakers still needed. First set of incentives include pedometer, then resistance bands,then t-shirts.
Mission is to encourage 45+ to exercise safely.
o WaterStation-W. Spenst looking into placing logoed water coolers along Peoples Stree T-Head. Could also
eventually facilitate downtown Farmer's market and include monthly yoga, stretch class. W.Spenst to
explore ideas with Fleet Feet as partner.
