A. HEB Community Challenge — Mayor Adame has committed CC to this statewide challenge to see what
community can mobilize the most healthy action. In addition to commitment, CC gets points for
hosting events which encourage healthy activity and lifestyles. Need MFC to encourage individuals
and organizations to register activity and events at www.HEBcommunitychallenge.com Community
wide event will be the Corpus Christi Heart Walk on October 6 at Heritage Park.

B. Corpus Christi Heart Walk
Presented by Wade Smith (AEP) and Jill Jacobs of the American Heart Association. Partner for HEB
Community Challenge to serve as official "community event ". October 6 at 8:00 am at Heritage Park.
Free to public. 5K walk and activities for children. Focus of event is to raise awareness about heart
disease and stroke, as well as raise funds for research and education programs.
ADA will put the MFC logo on some print material and MFC will post their banner at Heritage Park for
the event.
Vote to form partnership with American Heart Association and promote the Heart Walk as the
community event for the HEB Community Challenge. Rick Haley motioned; Elizabeth Feeney second;
all in favor.
C. American Cancer Society Cancer Study and Tobacco Cessation Partnership
Presented by Susan Rodriguez and Melissa De Garza of ACS. Requested partnership to promote
Cancer Prevention Study 3 and host venue at City Hall in late February 2013. ACS looking to promote
300,000 people for current study and recruit participants to reflect a culturally and geographically
diverse study set.

Vote to form partnership with ACS to host and promote CPS3 at City Hall. Judy LaPointe motioned;

D. ACHIEVE Community Action Plan 2013
Updated 2012 plan to reflect addition of hike and bike trails and lanes throughout town over last year;
added objective to host bicycle safety workshops for youth and families; updated community garden
figures. A copy of draft will be included in the file.
Vote to approve updated goals and objective for 2013 Community Action Plan. Neil Winchester
motioned; Rick Hayley seconded; all in favor.
E. 2012 Bond Propositions
Reviewed Bond List and approved by City Council and promotional materials published by the City
Manager's office. Explained the inclusion of Complete Streets theory for all street propositions, as
well as inclusion of hike and bike development in Proposition 4.

VI. Chairman's Report
Update on website — working Monica McCleod to get website up and running.
VII. Staff Liaison's Report
MFC 5K to be held on Sunday, February 24 along bayfront (starting and ending at DB). Rodney is
coordinating effort with Pendjo Sports. Rodney asked members to forward any media contacts. He will
seek partnership with Coastal Bend Community Foundation to house funds for the race /event.
CC Paddle Prix and Rally will be held on Saturday, October 27.
