III. Approval of Minutes and Absences of October 11, 2012
Motion Cook; Second Richardson; all in favor
IV. Public Comment
None
V. Business for Discussion with Possible Action:
A. Harbor BridgeWalk Partnership—motion Cook; second Lapointe; all in favor
B. City Policy on Committee Absences and Proposed MFC Ordinance Changes—Carlile, Campbell, McBath
subject to removal due to absences; MFC reviewed proposed restructuring of the council to include 9
seats by merging redundant seats and eliminating a few seats; remaining seats would include 3 at-
large,worksite wellness, health, disability network,youth initiatives, community outreach, and senior
initiatives; Spenst, Brown and Cook to be reappointed in May; suggest nominating Dr. Hernandez to
fill Youth Initiatives seat and moving Allen to Worksite Wellness. Still evaluating Health Care seat.
C. Review Subcommittee Recommendations for Community Garden Grants and Approve Awards
Subcommittee reviewed 28 applications and made recommendations for 12 grants, MFC approved
recommendations for twelve$500 grants to the following organizations:
Boys &Girls "Club Garden"
Clairelaine Gardens-Community Garden
Navarro Place-Community Garden
Corpus Christi Downtown Farmer's Market Educational Garden
St. Peter's By the Sea Community Garden
Dorothy Day Community Garden
Luther Jones Garden
Meadowbrook Garden
Kids in the Kitchen Community Garden -JLCC
Fit and Fun Garden
SMArt Garden
Bill Witt Park Community Garden
D. Update on MFC 5K Walk and Run
Cole Park on September 28; Rodney working with Coastal Bend Community Foundation to establish
mechanism for fees and donations
E. Development of MFC Sponsored Kite Festival
Cook, Richardson and Allen will explore putting together a subcommittee to coordinate this event;
discussion of having the event on the 15t weekend of November in conjunction with CC 1st
