Roll Call of Members— Present Spenst Brown Hayley Lapointe Peters Hernandez Not Present Cook Richardson Garcia Staff Anaya III. Approval of Minutes of December 12,2013 Peters motioned; Brown seconded; all in favor IV. Public Comment Dr. Ana Paez, Pediatric Endocrinologist, Driscoll Children's Hospital. Connecting with community to provide Driscoll's Way to Go program—holistic approach to battling diabetes by integrating nutrition and exercise into treatment plans and hoping to include entire families (when children come in to the office many of the family members who accompany them are obese as well). Dr. Paez is going to stay connected with the MFC and plug us into DCH's community forums on diabetes/obesity. V. Presentations and Possible Action A. USTA Wellness and Fitness Initiatives Terry Sweet(past president of Corpus Christi Tennis Association) made a presentation to MFC on CCTA's effort to integrate the USTA Wellness and Fitness Initiatives into local tennis community. CCTAonline.org provides information about the menu of programs and events from Wellness Warriors, 10 and under program. Questions from MFC included—Do you have resources to provide kids rackets?Yes, $40 entry into the program gets them a racket. CCTA is open to finding grants or partners that would provide entry fees for kids not in Tennis Success and who want to participate in program but can't afford it. Peters motioned to partner with CCTA to promote efforts and leverage resources; Hayley seconded; all in favor. VI. Business for Discussion with Possible Action: A. Establishment of Formal Partnership Levels Reviewed draft Healthy Business Partners and Wellness Events & Programs Partnership packets. Edits/Comments made: Remove MFC annual meeting benefit; develop a logo and/or sticker for Healthy Business Partners; Recertification every two years Roll out strategy: Launch via Press Release, Facebook, Website on Monday,January 20. Each MFC member should have their business go through the program. Review of Healthy Business Partners applications:Take two rounds of apps each year: March 31"and September 301h. Subcommittee reviews apps in April and October brings recommendation for certification to MFC in May and November meetings. Notification to new partners and press to follow ASAP. Review of Wellness Events and Program Partnership applications: on-going basis; Subcommittee of MFC to review and make recommendations to entire MFC. Applicants should provide a 2-3 month leeway for processing if seeking Advantage Partnership. VII. Chairman's Report-None VIII. Staff Liaison's Report—None IX.
