I. CALL TO ORDER—The regular meeting of the Mayor's Fitness Council was called to order at 12:11 p.m.
by Rick Hayley.
II. ROLL CALL—The recording secretary called roll and announced quorum
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Regular meeting, January 14, 2016—Jacque Hamilton moved to approve
the minutes as submitted. Ana Paez seconded. Minutes were unanimously approved. Regular
Meeting March 10, 2016 -Misty Kesterson moved to approve the minutes as submitted. Ana Paez
second. Minutes were unanimously approved.
IV. Public Comment— None
V. BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION
a) Susan Wood, CHRISTUS Health Community and Workplace Wellness Program, gave a brief
presentation focusing on a potential partnership with the Mayor's Fitness Council and the City of
Corpus Christi. Council members discussed several opportunities with Ms. Wood and suggested
she apply to become a Healthy Business Partner.

b) Tiffany Montemayor, Program Coordinator with Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition
— Item tabled, Ms. Montemayor was not present at the meeting.
c) Tobacco Free Parks Policy-Council members discussed adopting a policy to prohibit smoking
in public parks. Ana Paez suggested the Council make a presentation before City Council to
bring awareness to the matter and to the Mayor's Fitness Council and their work. Becky Perrin
will find the previous policy drafted and send to Council members for their review.
d) People for Bikes Grant Opportunity- Council members briefly discussed the 10,000 matching
grant and a few project possibilities. Item tabled until the May meeting and Misty Kesterson will
bring more information for further discussion.
VI. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS
a) Programs and Events—Misty Kesterson led the discussion, the subcommittee met March 30,
2016 and discussed ways to encourage more participation in the next It's Time Texas event;
possible dates and locations for the 2016 Kite Fest; and an application for Fit Tank. Roland
Hernandez will send a Mission Fit application to Becky. Ana Paez suggested enhancing the
marketing plan.
b) Finance & Marketing —An application was submitted for the Robert Wood Johnson Grant using
the Mayor's Fitness Council as the sponsoring agent.
VII. STAFF LIAISON'S REPORT
a) It's Your Life Foundation 6th Annual 5k run/2k walk—The walk will be at 8:00 p.m., April 23rd
at Cabaniss Field. Everything is in place and with CCISD participation it is expected to be a big
event. Ana Paez suggested the Council endorse the event in the future year and recommended
sponsorship by way of waiving the permitting fees. General discussion centered around the
feasibility of waiving permitting fees and the selection process for choosing 1 to 2 events or
organizations to endorse.
b) Creating Successful Partnerships to improve School and Community Health —Becky Perrin
announced that Stacie would be making a Presentation at the event at 1:15 pm, on April 28, 2016
at the ESC-2

• Approve 2016 Spring Class of Healthy Business Partners
IX. ADJOURN
Jacque Hamilton moved to adjourn. Ana Paez seconded. Motion Passed. Rick Hayley adjourned the
meeting at 1:23 p.m.
