MECHANICAL/PLUMBING ADVISORY BOARD
October 10, 1991

Vice Chairman Miller called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. , in
the Committee Room on the first floor of City Hall.
A motion was made by Mr. Olivo, seconded by Mr. Zernie Smith and
passed unanimously to approve the minutes of July 11, 1991 as submitted.
The next item was the code update discussion. Mr. Pena brought the
Board up to date regarding the update status of the plumbing code, gas
code and their associated local amendments.
In a related amendment, Mr. Doug Matthews, Chairman of the
Conservation Sub-Committee of the Water Task Force, gave a brief
presentation concerning the sub-committee's charge. He explained that
the committee and staff members had been working on amendments to the
conservation ordinance adopted during the 1980's drought. He presented
an overview of the requirements included in the State law.
A brief discussion followed during which the Board members agreed
W that they did not see a problem with the proposed appendix. Mr. Pena
z explained that the appendix would be handled as part of the code update.
Under petitions from the audience Mr. Jack Cooper, Vice President of
U Delta Restaurant Supply Company, stated that he was before the Board to
explain the principles behind the mechanism of a piece of equipment that
his company would like permission to use locally. Mr. Cooper stated that
it was his intent to appear on next month's agenda, requesting official
action.

Mr. Gonzalez asked the Board members for recommendations of
candidates to serve on the Board. After a brief discussion Vidal Ayala's
name was submitted for the Master Plumber position.
The Board requested that the election of officers be placed on next
month's agenda.
A brief discussion followed concerning the new Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) .
The meeting was adjourned at 2:54 p.m.
