A motion was made by Mr. Larson, seconded by Mr. Anderson and passed unanimously to approve the minutes of the December 12, 1992 meeting. Mr. Frank Peerman, Vice-Chairman of the AD HOC Foundation Standards Committee, gave a presentation and discussed recommendations which affect a plumbing system. Mr. Bill Osborne also made a brief presentation on behalf of the AD HOC committee discussing problems associated with the use of neoprene rubber connectors under a concrete slab and the effect of corrosion on the building's drain under the slab. Mr. Paul Keopke, Chairman of committee, asked the Board to consider changes to the plumbing code which would address the repair of the underground building - drains in a way which would prevent future building drain leaks that could cause expensive foundation failures. Mr. Keopke requested that cast iron pipe corrosion and methods of repair be put on next month's agenda for further discussion. Mr. Fred Pena discussed the changes that were requested by the Board to the proposed amendments and update of the Corpus Christi Plumbing Code. SCANNED P.O. Box 9277 • Corpus Christi, Texas 78469-9277 • (512) 880-3000 City of Corpus Mechanical/Plumbing Advisory Board Christi February 13, 1992 Page 2 A motion was made by Mr. Larson, seconded by Mr. Murray, and passed unanimously, to recommend using the fixture requirements of section 922, of the 1985 Standard Plumbing Code in lieu of section 922, of the 1991 Standard Plumbing code, due to the fact that the 1991 code requires fewer fixtures than the 1985 code. Mr. Miller requested that staff review for possible conflicts with other portions of the code and provide the Board with a copy. Under current concerns and events, Mr. Z. Smith expressed his concern on allowing Contractors 24 hours to obtain a permit, from the time that they are caught doing work without a permit. Mr. Fred Pena informed the Board of the re-appointed members and introduced the newest member, Mr. Reed Glendenning. The meeting was adjourned at 3:35 p.m. Lorenzol:itc7t. LG:FP:ga 04MP-25.DOC
