Chairman Miller called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m. , in the
Committee Room on the first floor of City Hall.
A motion was made by Mr. Larson, seconded by Mr. Anderson and passed
unanimously to approve the minutes of the December 12, 1992 meeting.
Mr. Frank Peerman, Vice-Chairman of the AD HOC Foundation Standards
Committee, gave a presentation and discussed recommendations which affect
a plumbing system. Mr. Bill Osborne also made a brief presentation on
behalf of the AD HOC committee discussing problems associated with the
use of neoprene rubber connectors under a concrete slab and the effect of
corrosion on the building's drain under the slab. Mr. Paul Keopke,
Chairman of committee, asked the Board to consider changes to the
plumbing code which would address the repair of the underground building -
drains in a way which would prevent future building drain leaks that
could cause expensive foundation failures. Mr. Keopke requested that
cast iron pipe corrosion and methods of repair be put on next month's
agenda for further discussion.
Mr. Fred Pena discussed the changes that were requested by the Board
to the proposed amendments and update of the Corpus Christi Plumbing
Code.

A motion was made by Mr. Larson, seconded by Mr. Murray, and
passed unanimously, to recommend using the fixture requirements of
section 922, of the 1985 Standard Plumbing Code in lieu of section 922,
of the 1991 Standard Plumbing code, due to the fact that the 1991 code
requires fewer fixtures than the 1985 code. Mr. Miller requested that
staff review for possible conflicts with other portions of the code and
provide the Board with a copy.
Under current concerns and events, Mr. Z. Smith expressed his
concern on allowing Contractors 24 hours to obtain a permit, from the
time that they are caught doing work without a permit.
Mr. Fred Pena informed the Board of the re-appointed members and
introduced the newest member, Mr. Reed Glendenning.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
