The public hearing was opened on Appeal No. P92-5. The appellant was U.S. Builders representing Sherwin Williams requesting the Board's concurrence for an alternate material and method of construction to Plumbing Code Section 922 and Table 922.3 to allow one joint use restroom as per footnote #5 regarding retail sales. Mr. Lelland Kirbow, Chief Mechanical Plumbing Inspector, explained the need for Code compliance and identified the types of fixtures needed. Mr. Tom Scanlan, representing Sherwin Williams made a brief presentation explaining that the existing warehouse building is 4200 square feet in area with 1000 square feet to be used as sales area. He added that the building would be primarily used as a wholesale pick up center rather than a conventional retail store. He concluded that not more than 3 employees or general public would be served in the facility at one time. After a brief discussion, a motion was made by Mr. Ronald Murray, seconded by Mr. Lew Larson, and passed unanimously that the Code be upheld and that the proposal be denied. The next item of business was the receipt of petitions from the audience. Mr. Terry Whitmire discussed issues regarding an administrative fee and the 24 hour grace period allowed before obtaining a permit. Mr. Murray suggested that Mr. Whitmire submit a formal written petition for the Board's consideration. SCANNED P.O. Chairman Miller inquired about the status of the Code. Mr. Lelland Kirbow explained that the Code was still undergoing review. Mr. Larson suggested that the Board write a follow up letter regarding status and the need for an expedient process. Chairman Miller committed to writing a letter to the Manager. Mr. Ronald Murray led a brief discussion regarding the Gas Code provisions for Gas appliance installations, water heaters, central furnaces . and new forced air furnace vent connector installation criteria.
