MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
MECHANICAL PLUMBING ADVISORY BOARD
APRIL 14, 1994

Chairman, Mr. Miller, called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. , in the
Conmittee Room on the first floor of City Hall.
The first item of business was the approval or corrections of the minutes
of March 10, 1994.
No action was taken.
The next item of business was the discussion of possible amendments to the
Mechanical Plumbing Code.
A motion was made by Mr. Larson, seconded by Mr. Hurst and passed
unanimously to amend section 401.1 and 401.2 of the Plumbing Code to allow the
use of 1/4 bends in lieu of short sweeps in plastic drainage systems.
Mr. Murray made a motion, seconded by Mr. Hurst and passed unanimously to
delete section 417.2.5.1 of the Plumbing Code.

Mr. Rector made a motion, seconded by Mr. Sutton and passed unanimously to
amend section 502.1 of the Plumbing Code , Table 500, item # 2 to read "For
flashings of vent terminals - not less than 2; psf."
Mr. Larson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Rector and passed unanimously to
delete section 701.2 of the Plumbing Code.

Mr. Hurst made a motion, seconded by Mr. Larson and passed unanimously to
amend section 921.2 of the Plumbing Code to remove the word "readily .
921.2 Location. Water heaters and storage tanks shall be so located and
connected that they will be readily accessible for observation, maintenance
serving and replacement.
Mr. Abey Flores, addressed the board on behalf of the Texas Air Condition
Association, he expressed the associations concerns regarding the City's Code
Requirements and the City's office procedure of obtaining a Mechancial Plumbing
permit. He added that they would like to appoint a committee within their
association and bring their recommendations regarding those two issues to the
board.
Chairman Miller stated the board would review their recommendations.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
