Sosa, Building Official Lelland Kirbow, Chief Plumbing Inspector Bernadine 0. Longoria, Secretary The meeting was called to order by Ralph Pitzer at 2:10p.m. The first item of business was roll call. Bud O'Bryan and Clarence Neal were absent from this meeting. Ronald Klepac made a motion to excuse Patrick Scarpulla, Herman Johnson, and Abey Flores were for their previous absence. Nick Llanes seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. `' The next item of business was the approval and correction of the minutes for July 8, 1999. Ronald Klepac made a motion to approve the minutes as written,with one correction••add Herman Johnson to board member absent list for July 1999. Nick Llanes seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. The next item of business was the Building Official's Report. Art Sosa addressed the MechanicallPlumbing board. Art stated that he and Lelland would meet with the Coastal Bend Air Conditioning Contractors Association on August 4, 1999. The discussion will cover passed legislation on licensure. Art Sosa met with Irrigation industry on the week of August 4, 1999 and he also stated that they had a presentation for the board members to discuss and review their request 411, for change to the Irrigation Code. The next item of business was the Old and/or Pending Business. Art reviewed the changes to the Plumbing Code,Administrative Chapter 1. Lelland stated that a change to the definition of "Backflow Prevention Tester" has to be recognized by Texas National Resource&Conservation Commission. 1991 Plumbing Code Chapter 4 addressed the Restroom exceptions for gasoline stations. Staff recommendation was to adopt 1991 Plumbing Code Chapter 4 as it is written in order to comply when small occupancy owners change the use of the existing building. Changes will be reviewed in September 1999. Mechanical Code had no changes. The next item of business was the presentation from the Irrigation Industry present to ` discuss Irrigation Ordinance Section 925.1 modified to require drip in certain areas for water conservation. (Area was defined as-streets, right-of-ways). Irrigation Industry would like for the SCANNED P.O. Box 9277 • Corpus Christi, Texas 78469-9277 • (512) 880-3000 V\/•e• Mechanical/Plumbing board to reconsider this ordinance and eliminate Section 925.1. Rey Johnson detailed the Irrigation Industry regulations on altering, inspection of irrigation system, testing of vacuum valve, and allow the licensed irrigator to maintain downstream of the vacuum valve on the non potable side,which would eliminate the word "alter". This would allow the Irrigators to adjust heads. After a discussion Art Sosa stated that staff would meet and prepare wording that would eliminate Section 925.1. There was one petition from the audience. Reed Glendenning and Mike Sutton addressed the board about the changes to the Code. Motion made to adjourn the meeting.
