Regional Health Awareness Board (RHAB) Minutes 03/28/19

I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Dr. Mobley at 04:05 p.m.
II. Identification of Quorum: Quorum was identified by PaulaKay Olivarez and introductions were
conducted.
Dr. Mobley asked for any objections to moving Steve Davidson with Cheniere and Vincent
Torres to the beginning of the agenda for their presentation (V), no objections were made
and the “Cheniere Sponsored Air Quality Monitoring Program” presentation was given.

III. Approval of October Minutes: Motion to approve minutes was made by Ron Jorgensen and
seconded by Ambar Qureshi. Motion passed to approve minutes by voice vote.
IV. Financial Report: Dr. Mobley stated that he visited with Annette Rodriguez regarding the
purchases of more promotional items. The CPR face shield sample was shown as an item to
purchase and Dr. Mobley asked for suggestions. First Aid kits, water bottles, and thermometers
were discussed. PaulaKay Olivarez reported a beginning amended balance of $69,846.00 with
expenditures to date of $7,469.46 and a remaining balance of $61,958.85.00 . Dr. Mobley
discussed purchasing shirts for board members and booth fees.
V. Steve Davidson, Cheniere Presentation
VI. San Patricio County Industry: Nothing new to report.
VII. Birth Defects Project: Birth Defects presentation was given to the Corpus Christi City Council
members by Dr. Mobley. Dr. Mobley is scheduled to attend the Nueces County Commissioners
court for the same presentation on April 10, 2019.
VIII. Growth and Development: Nothing new to report.

IX. Progress Report on Open Projects:
• Air Quality – Presentation given at beginning of board meeting.
X. Monitoring Projects: No new updates.
• Ballard Pits
• Brine Service Company
• Falcon Refinery
XI. End of Life Care: Dr. Gest is continuing to work on project.
XII. Mental Health: Clara Rieder discussed Mental Health First Aid trainings provided by Rebuild
Texas free of charge. Ambar Quershi discussed drafting a letter to the Spohn network to discuss
the mental heath facility shortage.
XIII. Hurricane Harvey: Clara discussed Rebuild Texas grants, General Land Office grants, and
Kcost grants.
XIV. Little Homes Project: Nothing new to report.
XV. Farmers Market: Dr. Mobley stated potential sites were located for community gardens in San
Patricio County.
XVI. Windfest: The decision was made to not attend Windfest due to high booth fees. Motion made
to remove from agenda by Ron Jorgensen and seconded by Rey Balboa. Motion passed by
voice vote.
XVII. Press Release: Occasional Cigarette Use press release was issued on 03/28/19. Intestinal Flu
Dehydration, Occasional Cigarette Use, and Caffeine press releases will be used for display on
promotional table at events.
XVIII. Public Comments: No comments.
XIX. Board Comments: Ron Jorgensen discussed child safety seat inspections performed by the
local fire departments and Clara Rieder reported Driscoll Children’s Hospital having staff
available for events. Dr. Mobley and PaulaKay presented the shirt samples for purchase.
XX. Adjournment: Motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 5:06 p.m. by Ambar Quershi and
seconded by Ron Jorgensen. The board unanimously voted in favor and motion passed.
