MINUTES APR 0 4 2013
JANUARY 10, 2013
The meeting was called to order at 3:03 pm by Neomi Ramirez, RSVP Program �`� SCRrA
A quorum of members was present.
Roll Call:
Roll call was conducted and members present were Dale Berry, Mary Helen Salazar,
Abel Sanchez and Anne Bauman. Committee member not present was Maggie Ramsey.
Approval of Minutes: Jan. 10, 2013:
New Business: Neomi Ramirez informed the committee RSVP is recruiting new
members and will be contacting CCISD for a list of recent retirees and also contacting
the Teachers Association and ask if she can attend a meeting and offer information
about our program. Mrs. Ramirez also said two new committee members were appointed,
Stephen Isenhour and Sylvia Portales and will be sworn in at the City Council meeting on
January 29, 2013. The awards /recognition banquet'will be on Thursday, April. 25, 2013
at the Solomon Ortiz Center. Dale Berry made a suggestion to contact the Museum
of Science and History and ask if they would like to offer our volunteers an
opportunity to visit the museum after the banquet. Mr. Berry also suggested to contact
the Hooks Baseball organization and ask if they would sponsor a RSVP Baseball Day.
Abel Sanchez asked to check on a Senior Hotline and put the information on our
next newsletter. Ms. Bauman suggested to contact New York Life Insurance Co.
for sponsorship at the next Senior Fraud Day. Neonu Ramirez said she will be checking
on the prices for a casino trip and will also contact Legacy, HEB, and Dusty Durrill for
sponsorships for our banquet and picnic.
Old Business: A Disaster Information Fair will be held on January 21, 2013 as our
Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King. The Navy /Army Federal Credit Union
has donated $150 for snack sponsorship and donated bags for handouts. Debbie Crites,
Director of the Senior Companion Program and Neomi Ramirez will appear on KIII TV,
to encourage seniors to attend this event.
Adiournment:
There being no farther business, Abel Sanchez moved and Mary Helen Salazar seconded
to adjourn the meeting at 3:51p.m.
