MINUTES
July 11, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 10:10am
Roll Call:
Present Members: Ruby Martinez, Pat Anderson, Bob Snyder, Joann Arevalo, Marylou Cano
Absent Members: Renee Hundley
• June minutes were not available there was no quorum met in June
Business:
• New members were introduced—Bob Snyder and Marylou Cano
• Pat was nominated as Chair Person
• Texas Open Meetings Act Training certificates were discussed. Joann will send her certificate to Ericka. Marylou
and Bob are working on completing the training.
Director's Report:
• New Federal Funding- Ericka discussed additional federal funding that RSVP received. Funding will be put into
recognition. It was discussed how recognition funding could be used for events, parties, gifts, and purchasing
Advisory Board Member polo shirts.
• Operation Safe Return- Angel discussed the details of Operation Safe Return. Volunteers needed for Friday, July
26th to help stuff backpacks and Saturday, July 27th to assist with the crowd control at the event.
• Future Events-
• Wednesday August 21St from 9-11 am. RSVP will be volunteering at the Food Bank in the
warehouse sorting items.
o Wednesday, September 11th . RSVP 9/11 Day of Service-Thank you breakfast for first
responders. Event will be held at Lindale Senior Center starting at 8:30am
• Ideas for Health Fair
o Health and Resource Fair to take place Fall 2019-Joann suggested the Coastal Bend Kidney
Foundation as a vendor- Pat suggested a legal aid group that helps at the VA clinic. She was
going to get in touch with the group about being a possible vendor.
• Recruit Days- Recruitment ideas were discussed. Ericka talked about having a table at La Palmera's monthly bingo
event and having volunteers run the table. Also discussed was having an RSVP table at the Nueces County Health
Fair to recruit volunteers.
