MINUTES
August 1, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 10:05am by Pat Anderson
Roll Call:
Present Members: Ruby Martinez, Pat Anderson, Bob Snyder, Joann Arevalo, Mary Lou Cano, and Rene Hundley
Absent Members:
• July minutes-Motion to approve minutes by Bob Snyder seconded by Joann Arevalo
Business:
• Health and Resource Fair vendors were discussed. Confirmed vendors were VA Clinic and Coast Bend Kidney
Foundation. Vendor Suggestions : 1.Legal aid group that helps out at VA Clinic. 2.Delmar College-promoting
their continuing education courses. 3.CVS or Walgreens 43SO-contact Christina Figueroa at Parkdale Plaza
location. 5.HEB 6.Diabetes Association 7.Smile Magic dentistry-contact Melissa Hernandez#549-8089 8.AARP
booth 9.Third Coast Research Company—The board would like a list of vendors that were present at last years
Resource Fair.
• Bob discussed getting a packet/information handout about the Resource Fair for potential vendors/sponsors from
Ericka. Have date for the Fair by next meeting.
• Wednesday, September 11th . RSVP 9/11 Day of Service-Thank you breakfast for first responders. Event will be
held at Lindale Senior Center starting at 8:30am-
• Texas Open Meetings Act Training certificates are complete. Bob discussed the discrepancy in the Liaison
handbook in which it states meetings are at 3pm at City Hall. Angel will discuss with Ericka to get that
corrected/updated .
• Method of notification for board meetings was discussed and it was decided that at next meeting in September
members will tell Ericka their preferred contact method. All members also mentioned they would like to gather and
have a handout with all emails and contact numbers for all RSVP board members.
• Purchasing Polo shirts for board members was discussed. Angel talked about styles and shirt colors. Angel will
ask Ericka when shirts will be purchased.
Director's Report:
• Future Events-
• Wednesday August 21St from 9-11 am. RSVP will be volunteering at the Food Bank in the
warehouse sorting items.
o Wednesday, September 11th . RSVP 9/11 Day of Service-Thank you breakfast for first
responders. Event will be held at Lindale Senior Center starting at 8:30am
• Recruit Days- Recruitment ideas were discussed. Joann talked about Delmar Health Fair and Grandparents
Raising Grandchildren event as possible recruitment days. She was going to email Ericka the information. La
Palmera Bingo on August 27th was mentioned by Angel as another recruitment day.
