Members of the audience will be provided an opportunity to speak during the meeting. A
recording is made of the proceedings. You must first identify yourself by name and address.
Then state your point as briefly as possible when addressing the committee. Presentations will
be limited tot ree (3) minutes. Any person who plans to attend this meeting and may need
accommodations is requested to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (361) 826-
3147 at least 48 hours in advance sot at appropriate arrangements can be made.
Minutes
I. Call to Order—Meeting was called to order at 4:09 p.m. by Monica Rodriguez.
11. Roll Call of Members®Members present: Marie Partington, Shirley Tipton, ApoIonia
Cantu, Isabel Ode h, Shirley Selz® Monica Rodriguez, and Debbie Crites.
Stephen Isenhour was also present
Ill. Approval of Minutes®Minutes were approved and motioned by Shirley Selz and
Apolonia Cantu by Is.
IV. Actions on Absent Members®Martha it -- excused.
V. Public Comment—No public comments
Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the Senior Companion
Program Advisory Committee from responding and discussing your comments at
length. The law only authorizes them to do the following:
1. Make a statement of factual information.
2. Recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry; or
3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at a later
date.
4. Discuss ways about fundraising for the Program.
V1. Selection of Quarterly Beyond the Call of Duty Awards—Advisory Committee,
excluding the companions, looked over nominees and selected Anastacio Ordonez to
for the 1"quarter and Consuelo Garcia for the 2"d quarter.

VII. Thanksgiving inner—Event to be held at Lin ale Senior Center on Thursday,
November 15, 2012 from 12:3 — 1:30 pm.
VIII. Christmas a —Party will potentially be held at it or Retirement Community.
We are currently waiting on a confirmation and date. Discussed ornaments with 5C
on them as possible gifts for seniors. Due to limited seating, only 1 guest will be
allowed er companion. As entertainment, Stephen Isenhour will bring karaoke
machine.
Ix. Transportation to Christmas v n —Due to the fact the bus stop is too far for
companion to walk, staff will encourage seniors to find their own transportation.
The possibility of transporting those needing rides in a City van to and from e
event was discussed.
X. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action —
