Senior Companion Program(SCP) Advisory Committee OCT 2 2013
Regular Meeting

Members of the audience will be provided an opportunity to speak during the
meeting. A recording is made of the proceedings. You must first identify
yourself by name and address. Then state your point as briefly as possible
when addressing the committee. Presentations will be limited t o t hree (3)
minutes.
Any person who plans to attend this meeting and may need accommodation
is requested to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (3 61)
826-3147 at least 48 hours in advance so that the appropriate arrangements
can be made.
Minutes
1. all to Order- Meeting was called to order at 4:01 p.m. by
Monica Rodriguez.
H. Roll all of Members- Members present: Marie Partington,
Apolonia Cantu, Shirley Selz, Shirley Tipton, Isabel Odeh,
Monica Rodriguez, and Debbie Crites
Ill. Approvals of Minutes- Minutes were approved. Shirley Selz
motioned and Isabel Odeh seconded motion.
[V. Actions on Absent Members- Martha it and excused.
V. Public Comment: No Public Comment
Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the
Senior Companion Program Advisory Committee from
responding and discussing your comments at length. The law
only authorizes them to dcot e following:
1. Make a statement of factual information,
2. Recite an existing policy in response t o t he inquiry; or
3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an
agenda at a later date.
4. Discuss ways about fundraising forte Program.
V1. May 6, 2013 Picnic at Heritage Park- There was food, dancers
and other entertainment by a Companion's spouse. All was a
success.
VII. Board Appointments- Ta Longino possible candidate.
VII[. Recognition Event- June 27, 201- Event at Lindale Senior Center
from 4-7p. Dinner will be served at 5:3 Op. Food provided by
Central Kitchen. Picture Slide show as ice breaker. Awards
presented- Patches will be given for Beyond the Call of Duty
and Companion of the Year.
