Regular Meeting
March 27, 2014

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at approximately 4:05 p.m.
Roll Call of Members: Members present: Tami Longino, Isabel Odeh, Shirley Tipton, Brian
Rosas, Shirley Selz, Monica Rodriguez. Members absent: -0-. Staff present: Debbie Crites.
Non-Member attendees: Stephen Isenhour.
Approval of Minutes: September 26,2913 minutes were presented. A motion was made and
seconded (Selz/Odeh) to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried.
November 14, 2013 minutes were presented. A motion was made and seconded
(Longino/Odeh) to approve the minutes. Motion was carried.
Public Comment: Members of the audience were provided an opportunity to speak during the
meeting. They were advised to identify themselves first by stating their name and address.
They were advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the Senior Companion Program
Advisory Committee from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only
authorizes them to do the following:
1. Make a statement of factual information,
2. Recite and existing policy in response to the inquiry; or
3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be places on an agenda at a later date,
4. Discuss ways about fundraising for the program.
There were no public comments.
New Business for Discussion and Possible Action:
Resignation of Martha Wild— Debbie Crites presented a resignation letter from Martha Wild.
Process for Appointing a New Member— Ms. Crites explained that new members have to be
appointed by the City Council. All members must complete an application to serve on a City
Committee. The committee instructed Ms. Crites to continue working with the Mayor's office
in order to fill the vacancy.
April 1 Breakfast: Ms. Crites reminded the committee about the April 1, Mayor's Day of
Recognition for National Service Breakfast. She pointed out that 200 SCP, FGP and RSVP
volunteers will be in attendance. Press releases have been sent to all local media. The
volunteers will be presented with a star lapel pin and a certificate.
Spring Picnic: Ms. Crites stated that she is working with the RSVP Director planning the Spring
picnic. She said that Mr. Roy Tipton has agreed to be the entertainment and Roger Santoya has
agreed to cook once again this year.
