New Business for Discussion and Possible Action:
Committee Member Absences— Debbie Crites explained that due to Brian Rosas' running for
City Council, he had to resign from the committee. He is allowed to reapply if he is not voted in.
However, there is a runoff election that he is involved in. She also explained that she made
attempts to reach Monica Rodriguez to find out her intentions of staying on the committee, but
Ms. Rodriguez has not responded. Committee members asked Ms. Crites to try to reach her
one more time. If there is no response, action will be taken at the next meeting.
Committee Appointments—The committee members discussed adding Veronica Suniga to the
committee. Ms. Crites explained that Ms. Suniga has filled out and turned in the necessary
paperwork that is needed by the City Council to appoint her. However, the City Secretary's
office will not present it unless there are more applicants. She also pointed out that there will
not be any committee appointments until after the first of the year.
Upcoming Event— Ms. Crites announced that the Fall Festival was great. Approximately 120
attended and all had a wonderful time.
Ms. Crites reminded committee members the Thanksgiving Luncheon will be held at Lindale
Recreation Center at noon on November 201h
Holiday Party-- Ms. Crites explained that Mirador cannot host our Holiday Party this year. They
have decided to have a party for only the volunteers that are assigned to Mirador. She shared
two options for this year's celebration. 1) Have the party at the Galvan House with the Central
Kitchen catering; 2)join RSVP's party that is already scheduled from 3:00— 6:00 p.m. at the
Omni on December 171h. The committee decided to go ahead and join RSVP this year.
Fundraising Event— No new information to report. We need to meet with the RSVP Advisory
Committee and Becky Perrin to discuss. Ms. Crites stated that due to a self-assessment
regarding criminal background checks that is required by the Corporation for National
Community Services, she has not had time to discuss it further with her supervisor or the RSVP
Director.
