Chaparral Corpus Christi,TX 78401 Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at approximately 3:30 P.M. Roll Call of Members: Members present: Tami Longino, Isabel Odeh, Veronica Sungia, Veronica Marsello and Shirley Tipton. Members absent: Shirley Selz and Sherry DuBois. Staff present: Debbie Crites. Non-Member attendees: Anne Bauman. Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the March 16, 2.015 meeting were presented. A motion was made and seconded (Odeh/Sungia) to approve the minutes. Motion Carried. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action: Committee Appointment Update— Debbie Crites announced that Veronica Suniga and Veronica Marsello are both official members of the SCP Advisory Committee. Mayor's Day of Recognition for National Service—Ms. Crites announced that the Mayor's Day of Recognition was a great success. Mayor Martinez and 5 City Council members made visits with both, RSVP and SCP volunteers. She stated everyone was appreciative of staff for arranging these visits to take place. Each one commented on, how much they learned and how important both programs are in our community., Beyond the Call of Duty Award—Additional award nomination forms have gone out. At the meeting in early June,the winners of the last 2 quarters will be selected. Spring Picnic—Due to scheduling conflicts,the Spring Picnic has been changed to Thursday, May 14 in,the Courtyard of Heritage Park. Recognition Event— Ms. Crites pointed out that due to, scheduling conflicts, it was also necessary to change the date for the Recognition event from June 25th to June 24th'. It is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. at Lindale Senior Center. Fundraising Event— Debbie Crites updated everyone on the success of Taft's fundraising event. She announced they made $26,000 clear. Letters and flyers were distributed so everyone can start soliciting auction and raffle items. it was suggested that a list be maintained when someone is going to make a contact so,that no one else contacts that person or business. It was pointed out that 7 tables and a $500 sponsorship have already been committed. Sponsorship levels were discussed. It was decided to have $5,000, $2,500, $1,000 and $500. It was also decided for contacts to be made regarding raffle items by the June meeting. Public Comment: Members of the audience were provided an opportunity to speak during the meeting. They were advised to identify themselves first by stating their name and address. They were advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the Senior Companion Program; Advisory Committee from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes them to do the following: 3- Make a statement of factual information, 2. Recite and existing policy in response to the inquiry; or 3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be places on an agenda at a later date, 4. Discuss ways about fundraising for the program. There were no public comments. Next Meeting—The next meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., on May 4, 2015. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:0�O p.m. Minutes written by Debbie Crites ...........
