Regular Meeting
January 9, 2017

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Roll Call of Members: Members present: Tami Longino, Veronica Marsello, Sherry DuBois,
Shirley Selz, and Veronica Ramirez. Others Present: Shirley Tipton. Staff present: Debbie Crites.
Lisa Oliver. Members absent: Connie Garcia. Jeannine Leal.
Approval of Minutes: November 8, 2016 minutes were presented. A motion was made and
seconded (DuBois/Selz) to accept the minutes as presented. Motion carried.
Old Business:
a) SCP Program Director Retirement— Last day will be January 23. Retirement event to
be announced at a later date.
b) Fundraising/PALS— reviewed balance sheet from "The Pages to the Table" event.
Shirley Tipton was announced as top seller of raffle tickets.
New Business:
a) Beyond the Call of Duty Nominations— Forms for nominations to be sent out at a
later date. Winners of first two quarters will be announced by the end of the year.
b) MLK Day of Service Project— Event Date set for January 24, 2017. Deadline for
donated items set of January 17. Tami Longino to notify volunteers date to prepare
bags for delivery. It was moved by Sherry DuBois and seconded by Veronica Ramirez
to limit dollar amount on items bought to $200. The motion carried.
February 17, 2017 Mardi Gras special event to be held.
Public Comment: Members of the audience were provided an opportunity to speak during the
meeting. They were advised to identify themselves first by stating their name and address.
They were advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the Senior Companion Program
Advisory Committee from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only
authorizes them to do the following:
1. Make a statement of factual information,
2. Recite and existing policy in response to the inquiry; or
3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be places on an agenda at a later date,
4. Discuss ways about fundraising for the program.

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:24 p.m.
