Regular meeting
Wednesday, January 10, 2018 - 11 :30 a.m.

I. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at approximately 11 :39
II. Roll Call of Members:
Members Present: Isabel Odeh, Christine Head, Gloria Ortiz, Tami Longino
Members Absent: Veronica Ramirez, Veronica Marsello (excused), Jeanine
Leal
Staff Present: Linda Ramirez, Dianne Taylor
III. Approval of Minutes:
October 11, 2017 minutes were presented. A motion made to accept, Isabel
Odeh accepted, Christine Head seconded. Motion carried.
IV. Old Business:
a. Beyond the Call of Duties letters sent out, recognition letters are for the
year. Event is April 26 at Lindale Senior Center.
b. Fundraiser balance (From the Pages to the Table) 2015 & 2016. Per
Dianne Taylor: Kathleen Ramos said she could come in and review the PALS
account as she did not have the time to do so. Five hundred was used for
the SCP 2017 Christmas party. I asked Dianne to see if it was possible for
me (rami Longino) to review the file to determine the balance.
c. A couple of ideals for ways to use the money from the fundraiser: Tami
Longino suggested a day trip to San Antonio, or an overnight visit as
they've done in the past. Tami suggested checking with Rockport tours or
with senior services to see what transportation company they use to
evaluate the cost.
Isabel Odeh suggested a movie event at a local theatre. The Alamo Draft
house was suggested as they do theme parties with a special menu and
decorations. Dianne said she would look into both of these events.
V. New Business:
a. Gloria Ortiz was welcomed as new committee member.
b. MLK Day of Service 'Celebrate Community by Serving Others' January 15
Dianne said a Girl Scout group generously delivered shoe boxes filled with
sundry items a couple of days before Christmas, they decided to use
these boxes for the MLK Day of Giving event. Senior Companions will
deliver the boxes to residents of the Memory Center at San Rafael Nursing
Home and Rehabilitation Center.
