HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Senior Companion Program Advisory Committee - 02/07/2018 Senior Companion Program (SCP) Advisory Committee Regular meeting Wednesday, February 7, 2018 - 11 :30 a.m. Galvan House at Heritage Park 1581 Chaparral St., Corpus Christi, Tx. 78401 I. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at approximately 11 :48am II. Roll Call of Members: Members Present: Isabel Odeh, Christine Head, Gloria Ortiz, Tami Longino, Veronica Ramirez, Veronica Marsello Members Absent: Jeannine Leal (excused) Staff Present: Linda Ramirez, Dianne Taylor III. Approval of Minutes: January 10, 2018 minutes were presented. A motion made to accept, Isabel Odeh accepted, Christine Head seconded. Motion carried. IV. Old Business: a) Beyond the Call of Duty letter have been sent out, few have come back. Isabel Odeh mentioned how social workers would nominate senior companions in the past, Veronica Ramirez and Veronica Marsello liked the idea. Dianne Taylor said she would make the letters available. b) Dianna did not have an update on the PALS account for the 2015-2016 fundraiser from the Page to the Table. She has been regardly updating Lisa Oliver on her course of action through emails and has agreed to contact Lisa explaining our need to know the balance in order to know how to best use the funds in the future. c) Dianne is looking into the Movie Event or possibly a Trip to San Antonio for the senior companions using the funds in the PALS account from the fundraisers. SCP and RSVP departments have been busy working on the upcoming Mardi Gras event and Dianne will follow up once the event is over. D) It was decided by the group not to have a fundraiser for 2018. Christine Head mentioned a garage sale as a way to raise funds in the future. Isabel mentioned a raffle with items donated by the donation stations and the advisory committee members. V. New Business: a) Mayor's Day of Recognition will not be at City Council this year. It will be held during the RSVP & SCP Picnic on April 4th b) Dianne is checking for availability with Citrus Bistro for the Beyond the Call of Duty event on April 26th. Program Update: Dianne told us about an exciting new grant program partnering with La Retama Library, this program 'Homebound Elderly' will make tablets and larger print books available thru Hoopla app. VI.
