I. CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Sister City Committee was called to order by Heather Moretzsohn at
6:03 pm.
II. ROLL CALL: Tess Allan called roll. A quorum was met with 12 members present.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Donald Russell made a Motion to accept the August 5, 2013
minutes, Kelly Kimball Seconded. Minutes were approved.
IV. FINANCIAL REPORT: No Report
V. PUBLIC COMMENT: None
VI. NEW BUSINESS:
Chair Appointments
By general consensus item tabled until November meeting
VII. OLD BUSINESS:
TAMU Kingsville Exchange Update
Reba George shared a thank you letter, gift and newspaper articles sent from a TAMU
Kingsville art professor regarding their successful art program exchange with Yokusuka Japan.
Strategic Planning Overview
Reba George announced that the Parks and Recreation Department will be paying an outside
consultant to lead the SCC in its strategic planning process. By general consensus it was
decided that the next regular SCC meeting on November 4t" will be an extended meeting to
allow for strategic planning.
VII. Liaison Reports
A. Yokosuka, Japan — None
B. Agen, France —Alan reported that Philippe who serves on the Sister City board in Agen
will be traveling to Corpus Christi at the end of October. He will be meeting with local
teachers and would like to meet with the Sister City Committee as well.
C. Keelung, Taiwan — None
D. Monterrey, Mexico — None
E. Toledo, Spain — None
F. Playa del Carmen — John Sloan will be traveling there the first of November. Heather
will provide a letter of introduction and contact information for him to take with him.
VIII. Task Manager Reports
A. Publicity Reports — None
B. Curriculum/Training —Alan Thornburg announced that he would like to step down from
this sub-committee.
C. Fundraising — Kelly Kimball reported that she needs more information to complete the
online Whataburger Grant application; and that Whataburger is looking to support
organizations with an education component.
D. New Sister City Evaluation — None
E. Activities — None
F. Selection — Alan Thornburg reported that he has gone to two of the High Schools but
needs help in making contacts at all the schools. Hailey Kimball and Kelly Kimball each
volunteered to contact a school.
G. Pen Pal — Kelly Kimball announced that she would like to step down from this sub-
committee.
H. Student Service — None
I. Historian — None
IX. New Business
Del Mar Small Business Development Council/Global Trade Section
Heather Moretzsohn gave a presentation of current and past Sister City activities and proposed
that the Sister City Committee accept an invitation from the Del Mar Small Business
Development Council to sponsor their International Trade Show. Don Russell made a Motion
to authorize Heather to speak with Del Mar and place the item on the November Agenda to
approve the project. Kelly Kimball Seconded. Motion was approved.

XII. ADJOURNMENT: Hailey Kimball made a Motion to adjourn the meeting. Kevin Aguilar-Ferrari
Seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 6:52 pm.
