I. CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Sister City Committee was called to order by Heather Moretzsohn at
6:00 pm.
II. ROLL CALL: Tess Allan called roll. A quorum was met with 8 members present.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Donald Russell moved to accept the minutes as submitted.
Yvonne Fernandez seconded. Minutes were approved.
IV. FINANCIAL REPORT: Current Available Funds is $7,949.60
V. PUBLIC COMMENT: Guest, Misaki Berrios, introduced herself as a newly appointed member of
the Board of the Asian Museum visiting to learn more about the Sister City Program.
VI. NEW BUSINESS:
Asian Museum Partnership for Taiwanese Dance Troop
Heather Moretzsohn stated there was no new information to report on this matter.
VII. OLD BUSINESS:
Del Mar Small Business Development Council/Global Trade Section Expo
By general consensus it was decided that the SCC will only participate in the Global Trade
Expo if the required booth fee is waived.
VIII. Liaison Reports
A. Yokosuka, Japan —Westi is waiting to hear if they have chosen one or two students.
B. Agen, France — Mark reported that Agen will send two girls. Our student will travel to Agen
on June 26th and will return with the Agen students on July 17th. Reba gave a brief update
on the status of the Mayor to Mayor communications with Agen.
C. Keelung, Taiwan — Alan reported that Taiwan is interviewing for their students now. Our
student, Sam Barre, will travel to Keelung on June 30th and will return with the Keelung
students on July 18th
F. Playa del Carmen — John Sloan read an email that Fire Chief Rocha sent to Playa del
Carmen and will contact their Sister City Committee letting them know it is now hoped that
the two Fire Chiefs will work together to determine the specific details for the exchange.
John also plans to visit Playa del Carmen in June and will deliver shirts and hats to their
representatives at that time.
IX. Task Manager Reports
A. Publicity Reports — Yvonne reported that she has sent a thank you letter to Jeremy
Landers for assigning coverage for the Sister City Committee. Yvonne will send her
publicity contacts to City Staff for record keeping and will print out press releases for visiting
press in the future.
B. Social Media/Website — None
C. Curriculum/Training — Yvonne reported that the April 6th training went well, Alan led the
Question and Answer section and John led the Student Service section, and all three of the
students have passed the required test. The next training will take place on April 13th
D. Fundraising — Wan Sun announced that she has been in contact with the Korean
Chamber of Commerce and they would like to meet the mayor and help with the City of
Corpus Christi.
E. New Sister City Evaluation — None
F. Activities — Alan asked the Committee members to email their ideas for this summer's
activities. Heather requested a copy of last year's activities. John will look into a dinner at
Fajitaville, Mark will look into a dinner at Silverado, Heather will request Whataburger meals
and contact HEB for gift cards.
G. Selection — None
H. Pen Pal — None
I. Student Service — John Sloan reported that the beach clean-up on March 22nd went well.
Gabby has completed her Student Service and will now receive her $150 deposit back.
June 7th will be a Diabetes awareness opportunity and the Annual Carwash will be on May
31 st at the Dr.'s office on the corner of Staples & Saratoga from 10:00 to 2:30. Yvonne will
post the car wash in the paper, John would like a pamphlet about the Sister City Program
to hand people who get their car washed.
J. Historian - None
X. Updates
• Reba George announced that an Eisenhower Fellow will be visiting Corpus Christi April
17th and has requested to meet with representatives from the Sister City Committee.
Alan and Heather have agreed to meet with him then he will meet with the Mayor and
the City Manager before he leaves for San Antonio.

XII. ADJOURNMENT: Kevin Aguilar-Ferrari moved to adjourn the meeting. Don Russell
seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 7:02 pm.
