U4r% SISTER CITY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES MONDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2016(k 5:30 P.M. CVB BOARD ROOM ITEM DISCUSSION ACTION L Call To Order Teresa Rodriguez, Director of the Sister City Committee called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m. IL Roll Call Members present: Misaki Berrios Deven Bhakta Susane `Westi' Horn Annette Medlin David Loeb Heather Moretzsohn Bill Pettus Iain Vasey Elizabeth Hardin Stacey Talbert Anaya Fred Segundo �Quorum reached Teresa Rodriguez, Sister City Program Director Paulette Kluge Carmen Newton III. Public Comment Teresa Rodriguez, Sister City Program Director, gave a background overview of her work experience with the Sister City Program while with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. She stated this program's relationship had helped improve the city's overall economic development. IV. Discussion/Action Items Teresa Rodriguez asked the committee for a A. Election of Chair nomination for this committee's Chair and Vice Chair positions. Iain Vasey made a motion to nominate Heather The motion was seconded by Moretzsohn as committee Chair. David Loeb. Motion passed. B. Election of Vice Chair David Loeb made a motion to nominate Misaki Berrios The motion was seconded by as committee Vice Chair. Iain Vasey. Motion passed. C. Possible Program Heather Mortetzsohn, Chair, asked that Teresa Initiatives Rodriguez take the floor to continue discussion of the Sister City Program. Teresa presented a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Sister City Program which was founded on October 18, 1962 by the City of 101 IV. She noted the cities with which the Corpus Christi has established affiliations, including pertinent information. These cities include: 1962 Yokosuka, Japan 1986 Veracruz, Mexico 1987 Keelung, Taiwan 1989 Toledo, Spain 1993 Monterrey, Mexico 1996 Agen, France 2008 Playa Del Carmen, MX Teresa also presented Ordinance Changes that will be in effect now that the Sister City Program will be managed by the Convention&Visitors Bureau, along with the city Parks &Recreation Department. Along with the Program Initiatives, each member also received a copy of the Bylaws for review. Bill Pettus requested history of the Sister City Program to better understand its goals and objectives. E. Determination of Discussion was held regarding the time and date of the Meeting Time/Date Sister City Committee meetings. New Business Iain Vasey asked each committee member to select a city with which they would like to re-build the Sister City Program relationship. Keelung, Taiwan Misaki Berrios Toledo, Spain Iain Vasey Monterrey, MX (Ask Barbara Canales) Agen, France Iain Vasey Playa Del Carmen, MX Deven Bhakta VI. Other Business Heather Moretzsohn stated she has been working with the Student Exchange program and that applications are due in January 2017. The applications that are received will be brought to the committee for review and selection process. She stated that in the near there is also a need to make a connection with the host cities in the near future. X.
