Talbert Anaya stated the city manager has requested cost analysis for achieving
standards of care with in the park system. Additional resources needed come to $1.8
million (including a urban forester position). There will be discussion about this with
city council during budget process.
VI. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action
1. Selection of officers for Tree Advisory Committee— postponed until we have full board present.
2. Review tree plans and resources from other communities and determine common elements to
be included in Corpus Christi tree plan.
Plans are very comprehensive and probably beyond what the committee/city has resources to
do at this juncture.
Christian shared iTree software. Suggests we review for guidance and development of the plan.
Ehlen suggested we follow path set out by the master plan —develop maintenance/care
strategies for Level A/major investment parks by conducting an inventory of trees, current
maintenance practices then determining what can be saved with current resources; what to
plant and where. Could also develop an accompanying educational component (right plant,
right place; tree planting and pruning events; palm trees; arbor day; etc)Target date for
completion of initial plan is end of the year. At next meeting Talbert Anaya and Wyatt will
present a list of Level A and Major investment parks, current maintenance and planting plans for
