REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

AGENDA
I. Call to Order-4:15pm
II. Roll Call of Members- Stacie Talbert Anaya-Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation
Present—Christian, Campos, Rodriguez Ehlen Weizer
Not Present—
Staff—Alford, Anaya, Pyle, Rhae (taking place of Alford for future meetings), Balderaz(taking
place of Wyatt for future meetings)
III. Adoption of Minutes from June 12, 2014 Rodriguez motioned; Weizer seconded; all in favor
IV. Public Comment(none)
V. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action
1. Membership to the Texas Urban Forestry Council and Grant Opportunities
TAC gave Anaya authority to submit grants on behalf of committee
Campos motioned; Rodriguez seconded; all in favor
2. Set Date for Tree Advisory Committee Goal Setting Workshop
August 28, 2014; 4pm to 7pm
Look at Marina Boaters Facility or Heritage Park
Serve Dinner
Things to discuss—what do we want in our plans, set target dates for miles stones
Anaya to lead discussion and moderate workshop; will send out leading questions
Campos motioned; Rodriguez seconded; all in favor
VI. Old Business for Discussion and Possible Action
1. Review education pamphlet and create an education calendar
Suggest changes to the brochure— utilize graphics that include trees we are trying to promote;
pare down recommended tree list; move pruning information to stand alone brochure; include
information about when to stop watering at the base of tree (Salvador's presentation), add
information about planting near sidewalks and curbs (from tree ordinance); once content is
finalized Anaya will engage Parks and Recreation Department graphic designer to put together
a version for printing.
VII. Presentations- none
VIII. Staff Liaison Report—Stacie Talbert Anaya
Fruit tree donation —80 different fruit trees and accompanying education booklet that we can
reproduce; Weizer is going to meet with staff and help determine best way to distribute.
Steven Rhae will be replacing Jessica Alford as the representative for Development Services.
IX. Identify Items to be placed on next Agenda—September 11, 2014
