Minutes
Thursday, January 11, 2018 4:00 p.m.
3rd Floor Parks & Recreation Department Conference Room
City Hall, 1201 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX 78401
Members of the audience will be provided an opportunity to speak during the meeting. A recording is made of
the proceedings. You must first identify yourself by name and address. Then state your point as briefly as
possible when addressing the Committee. Presentations will be limited to three (3)minutes.
Any person who plans to attend this meeting and may need an accommodation is requested to contact the
Parks and Recreation Department at 826-3461 at least 48 hours in advance so that appropriate arrangements
can be made.

III. Adoption of Minutes from October 12, 2017
Motion Gibbs, Second Fields, All in favor
IV. Public Comment
Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the Tree Advisory Committee from responding
and discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes them to do the following:
1. Make a statement of factual information,
2. Recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry, or
3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at a later date.

VI. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action —None
1. Steps to create web presence
a. Tabled until next meeting
2. Information booklet
a. Looked at San Antonio's planting book. Committee looked at creating a booklet and if
community shows desire create a book modeled after San Antonio's trying to partner
with local gardening groups and Botanical Gardens, no action
3. Discussion on changing date and time of meeting to accommodate members schedules
a. Committee members did not want to change but would like to revisit when new
members come on to committee, no action

1. Review of Committee Action Plan
a. Tabled until next meeting
VIII. Staff Liaison Report—Joshua Wentworth
a. 2 employees testing for arborist license
b. 703 trees planted by the Parks and Recreation Department in 2017

1. Process to change committee make up from Landscape Arch to landscaper or nursery
professional
2. Earth Day Celebration
