ITEM 1: Call the Meetinq to Order Chairman Sam Sanders called the meeting to order at 11:27 a.m. with a quorum of seven members attending. ITEM 2: Review and Approval of Minutes The minutes from the Wednesday October 6, 2016 meeting were unanimously approved. ITEM 3: Introductions Esteban `Steve" Ramos introduced himself to the Committee as the new Water Resource Manager for the City of Corpus Christi. Steve briefly informed the group about his professional background. ITEM 4: Committee Re-appointments and Vacancy Discussion - Chair Re-appointments were discussed ITEM 5: Water Resources Update, —Steve Ramos Steve Ramos gave the Committee an update of the City of Corpus Christi Water Supply including the following points: Regional Water Supply System City of corpus Christi Water Supply Relationships Drought Impact on Texas Surface Water Drought Monitor Statistics Water Supply Source o Choke Canyon 659,262 Ac-ft Storage Capacity o Lake Corpus Christi 256,961 Ac-ft Storage Capacity Pagel of 3 o Mary Rhodes Pipeline Phase I (Lake Texana) 41,840 Ac-ft Yield o Mary Rhodes Pipeline Phase 11 (Colorado River) 35,000 Ac-ft Yield Reuse Future and current Water Supply Strategies o Desalination o Aquifer Storage and Recovery o Water Conservation Desalination Pilot Demonstration Aquifer Storage and Recovery Water Conservation Once a week watering helped lead to a residential per capita water use of 60 gallons per person per day. ITEM 6: Water Conservation Initiatives Meeting Guest: Eddie Wilcut with Alan Plummer&Associates. Identifying Residential & Commercial Water Conservation Opportunities City of Corpus Christi Water Use o Industrial 34% o Residential- single Family 30% o Commercial 15% o Wholesale 9% o Residential-Multi-family 7% o Institutional 5% 90% of the City of corpus Christi customers are Residential-Single Family City of Corpus Christi Reduction goal for 2017— 197 GPCD Water Conservations Opportunities o Water Loss Reductions o Water Conservation Ordinance Industrial, Commercial & Residential water conservation opportunities Industry users by specific use Analyzing Water use in the Car Industry Things to remember o Every utility or municipality has its own unique characteristics. o Adopting someone else's strategy without a full understanding of your own customer base may result in failure o The best conservation survey starts at your computer o Large water users are not always indicative of wasteful users o Smaller water users are not always indicative of efficient users o Simply categorizing and comparing like users can result in the identification of significant water saving opportunities Page 2 of 3 ITEM 7: Water Resource Legislative Update Meeting Guest: Tom Tagliabue, Director Intergovernmental Relations, City of Corpus Christi General scope of Texas Water Law Legislation including: Legislative Priority Legislative Policy Federal Water Agenda Water Bill Track Legislation ITEM 8: Set next meeting date The next meeting was scheduled for 11:30 AM on April 27, 2017.
