BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION /ACTION A. New Business Discussion Regarding North Beach Name Change Name changed from Corpus Christi Beach to North Beach. JoAnn reported that businesses on CC Beach did not support the name change other than the Texas State Aquarium. She stated that changing the name is a huge expense to the businesses operating on CC Beach. Discussed that marketing campaigns advertise the beach as Corpus Christi Beach. Since 1959 it has been marketed as Corpus Christi Beach. She also noted the name change to North Beach gives no designation to being in Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi Beach Association voted for the name to be Corpus Christi North Beach. JoAnn feels the WBAC made a recommendation without enough information. In the future, JoAnn would like the committee to do additional research when similar issues arise in the future. Presentation by Jeff Pollack with HDR Presentation by Jeff Pollack with HDR — Gave presentation on low impact designs. There are multiple water bodies in the area on the list of impaired water bodies. Impaired waters affect community economics not to mention public health safety. Discussed infrastructure being the main source of contamination and how implementing low impact development principles such as redirecting storm water runoff towards vegetation can reduce contamination to bays. 5:55pm quorum was lost when Cody Bates left the meeting.
