Regular Called Meeting, Thursday, March 6, 2014 5:30 p.m.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Co-Chair, Jay Gardner called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL
The recording secretary called roll and announced that a quorum was present. With the recently
appointed members, the committee took some time to introduce themselves.
III. ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Regular called meeting- February 6, 2014. Cameron made a motion to approve. Cody seconded
minutes approved.
IV. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC - none.
V. BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION
A. New Business
Elect New Chair and Co-Chair
Jay asked who would not want to be nominated. Cody declined to be nominated. Cody nominated
Jennifer Pollack. Jennifer declined the nomination. Cliff nominated Jay Gardner. Jennifer nominated
Cameron Perry. Jay closed nominations. Vote was called: 3 for Jay Gardner; 4 for Cameron Perry.
Cameron was appointed as Chair. Cody nominated Jay for Co-Chair. Cliff seconded. Jay was appointed
as Co-Chair.
Cameron took over the meeting as Chair.
Nick Christianson —Power Lines over Laguna Madre
It was previously requested that a resolution be made from the City to keep Power Lines away from the
Laguna Madre. There were 48 different possible routes. The reason given was they needed new lines in
case current lines fail. They claimed the current lines were unable to be taken down for maintenance.
Currently, there is already a resolution in effect to keep the lines out of the water. If the route is
narrowed down by the next meeting, it will be added to the next agenda and presented at the next
meeting.
Spring Break Update
Derek reported on Spring Break. The weather is not going to be ideal, but the City is still preparing for a
big Spring Break. Road construction going to the island stops tonight and will continue with the project
after Spring Break. Project to be completed before Memorial Day Weekend. The traffic plan remains the
same as in years past. According to CVB attractions are getting booked up. PD and Code Enforcement
will be out enforcing ordinances. New holders for Up2U trash bags will be placed on the beach. North
beach is also expected to have a lot of visitors during Spring Break. Derek will provide a report at the
next meeting.
ASBPA Conference Report
Cameron and Derek recently attended the ASBPA Conference held in Washington DC. The coastal
summit conference looked at issues from the federal side. Cameron and Derek were able to meet with
senators and local congressmen regarding area issues. As reps for Texas chapter, Cameron with HDR
takes concerns from the State and presents them to the senators. Cameron educated the committee on
the purpose of the ASBPA conference.
ISAC Report
Jay serves as Ex-oficio on ISAC so he will be providing WBAC with a report from their meetings. ISAC
would like to update the Padre Island Master Plan. They will be looking for input. New Corps permit for
beach maintenance. Once Derek receives the permit it will be included in the WBAC packets. There are
issues with sand collecting in front of the Seawall. Topic will be added for discussion on the next
agenda.

As there was no further business, Jay Gardner made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Cody Bates
seconded. Chair, Cameron Perry adjourned the meeting at 6:32 pm.
