on Thursday, November 4, 2010. Members Present: Pablo Garza, Janda Holcomb, Robert
Hatherill, Tom Kimes, Shannon Madden, Jim Moloney, Luci Sosa, and Linda Tomo.

2010 regular meeting were approved as presented.
- Upon motion by Pablo Garza and seconded by Tom Kimes the absence of Jim Moloney
was excused.
Business:
a. Upon motion by Tom Kimes and seconded by Pablo Garza the Committee unanimously
approved the deaccession of history artifacts and natural history specimens due to poor condition
or lack of relevance to the Museum mission.
b. Collection Manager Ashley Henderson explained the process of transitioning the collection
data base from Access to Past Perfect and demonstrated how this transition will improve public
accessibility to collection data. She then previewed the storage plan revision that is underway
which included moving the archeology artifacts to the second floor storage space and the
decorative arts artifacts to the North Building storage space.
Ashley described the environmental impact of the completed HVAC improvements funded
through Bond 2008. She also described how the new card access system to collection storage
areas improved security and accountability for security in those spaces.
The committee was also informed that responsibility for Nina was transferred to the Columbus
Sailing Association on October 22. Their overt antagonism and contempt for the Museum is
likely to make for a very difficult working relationship on Santa Maria Plaza.
c. Museum Educator Sandra Linderman shared with the Committee various events and activities
aimed at audience building, including:
• joint Christmas season free community event with the Art Museum scheduled for
December 11 which will replace the St. Nicholas Day event,
• Night at the Museum overnight event for Girl Scouts,
• Columbus Days activities in the two weeks leading up to Columbus Day targeting
schools during the week days and the family audience on the weekend,
• Winter Lecture series targeting Winter Texans and local retirees
d. Staff Reports
• Jourdanton Junior High School History/Science Club notified the Museum during a
recent visit that they would be presenting a$500 check for restoration of Pinta.
The meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
