MEETING MINUTES
Call to Order: 12:06 PM by Jonda Holcomb
Roll Call:
Present: Jonda Halcomb, Steve Arnold, Scott Sutherland, Carol Rehtmeyer, Sonia Castillo, E. Jay
Ellington, Cary Perales, Amanda Leal, Anita Eisenhauer, Ruben Rocha
Absent: None
A. Adoption of Minutes from March 1st Special Meeting
a. Motion to Approve was Seconded and Unanimously Accepted
B. Adoption of Minutes from January 5th Meeting
a. Cary Perales was excused from her absence on January 5th
b. Motion to Approve excuse was Seconded and Unanimously Accepted

E. Museum Director's Updates
a. Carol Rehtmeyer started by thanking the City for helping rush March's special
meeting to finalize the HEB naming rights contract.
b. Spring Break attendance this year exceeded last year by 5,000 people.
c. Current General Attendance Statistics
i. Trending 100,000 in attendance at the museum
ii. 51% of guests are adults, 29% children 3-12yrs, 2% 2 and Under, 10%
Seniors (not included as adults)
d. CCISD Field Trips are primarily 1st graders. With the addition of the new science
center more age groups can be targeted increasing ISD attendance.
e. Summer Camp
i. Registration period has begun. 70k in new scholarships, not including
HEB. Free lunch program for impoverished families, also programing for
the working poor are in the works. Opening up the program to a
younger age group 4 yrs. through 6t" grade.
f. HEB Science Center
i. Soft opening march 4t", great turn out over 1,000 attendants, media
helped promote the event. Grand opening for VIP's was successful 200
people. DNA installation is not yet completed. Outdoor music garden is
in place, kids have been playing too rough causing breakage.
ii. Grand Opening 250 members of the Iglesia ni Christo Church of Christ in
the Philippines attended. This church has an international congregation
of over 1 Million and recently promoted the CCMSH.
g. New programming
i. Today was opening day for"Mommy and Me" program. This Saturday is
family fun day. Dollar day will be April 30th to coincide with Bucdays.
1. Carol posed—if we exceed capacity what are our solutions.
Rotating attendees, raising prices and having outdoor events
allows for the museum to avoid violating safety requirements and
occupancy.
ii. 2 new grants NOAA and BlueCross Blue shield. Museum director is
working on a grant for multiple languages in museum. Spanish needs to
be incorporated into museum, staff are looking into ways to incorporate
Spanish into the museum and funding sources. Upcoming additions to the
science center include an interactive running with the dinosaur exhibit, an
oil and gas area, and an Outdoor pavilion.
iii. Tesla is moving forward. CCMSH was selected to be an experimental
charging station for tesla cars at no cost to the museum. Two of the
three stations will be specific to Tesla cars, the other will be generic.
F. Other News / Updates
a. Potential naming rights -Owen Hopkins planetarium dedication at a cost of 250k,
a meeting is scheduled for April 19th (Friends of Owen) to discuss naming rights
and pledges to cover the cost of the planetarium
L Motion to approve naming rights for the planetarium if the
$250k dollar cost is funded, Motion to appro ve was 27d and
passed unanimously,
b. Other naming rights in discussion — Dahill is interested in naming rights for an
innovation center. Said center would require repurposing rooms at a cost of
$350K.
L Motion to pre appro ve naming rights for the Dahill Irmo vation
Center if an agreement is reached, Motion to approve was 27d
and passed unanimously,
G. Items for Next Agenda
a. Consider creating a plan for naming rights to be discussed by the advisory board.
b. Next meeting scheduled for July 1211 @ Noon
