c. The Museum will be hiring a person to assist with the summer class program this year.
The summer classes will all take place during June-four sessions of one week each.
The Archaeology Field School will provide six hours of course credit through the
University for those who register for the entire"season",but will also provide the
opportunity for paying citizens to apply to participate on a daily basis. The project will
survey an area along the banks of the Nueces River in San Patricio County that has
scattered evidence of settlements over many centuries of habitation. The Friends
approved the purchase of a laptop computer and digital camera that will enable Dr.
Drolet to use GIS software and GPS technology to create an accurate site map of the
survey results on a real time basis. The GIS Department of the City will be assisting with
the project.
d. Attendance continues below previous levels. For the period November through April
(after the Columbus Fleet closed)total attendance was down 26%compared to the
previous year and paid attendance was down 43%. Because of the increase in admission
fees, revenue was down only 13%. For the month of April, revenue was actually up over
the previous year. The trend for attendance and revenue is generally upward.
