The Museum Advisory Committee met in the Museum at Noon on Thursday ober 5, 2000.Jr"' Members Present: Henry Brennecke,Art Howerton,Donna Flynn,Gwen Henz, moi.et zttitQ� Carpenter, and Mary Longoria. Upon motion by Donna Flynn and seconded by Mary Longoria the minutes of the September 7, 2000 meeting were unanimously approved. Upon motion by Mary Longoria and seconded by C.W. Carpenter the absences of Donna Flynn and Hank Brennecke were excused for good cause. Business: a. Upon motion by C.W. Carpenter and seconded by Art Howerton, the Committee unanimously approved the deaccession of ajavalina skull. b. Rick Stryker reported that construction of Discovery Hall is on schedule and going according to plan and budget. The construction wall protects visitors from construction activities. c. The La Salle Odyssey project that spreads one exhibit over six facilities has been submitted to Southwest Museum Services for concept development. A video and presentation book will be produced to sell the project to funding agencies. The first public presentation will be in Victoria on October 14th. Representatives from the Texas Historical Commission visited the Museum to prepare for the Commission decision on naming a repository for the La Belle collection. d. The Committee reviewed the proposed revisions of the Collection Management Policy. It will be discussed and approved at the next meeting. e. Attendance to the Museum from when the Columbus ships closed in October 1999 through September is down 43%,admission revenue is down 8%, and school attendance is down 20%. There is nothing to report regarding the disposition of the ships. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m. SCANNED
