Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History t r ` a' RS ,7 Advisory Committee Meeting "„ OiRCF S April 5, 2007 9iy ��ZL llOS68L The Museum Advisory Committee met in the Museum's DeDietrich Conference Room at Noon on Thursday, April 5, 2007. Members Present: Margaret Bolick, Sharon Brower, Robert Hatherill,Nelida Ortiz, Phyllis Riddle, and Linda Tomo. The minutes of the March 1, 2007 meeting were approved as submitted. Upon motion by Linda Tomo and seconded by Margaret Bolick the absences of Phyllis Riddle and Sharon Brower were unanimously excused for good cause. Business: a. There was an extensive discussion of the proposal submitted by Lord Cultural Services for institutional planning Services to follow up on Appelbaum's visualized concept study. The proposal includes working in collaboration with Grenzebach, Glier and Associates which is a fund raising counsel. It will be funded by the Friends of the Museum. The submitted proposal might be more comprehensive than the services needed, but the details will be negotiated. b. Rick Stryker reported on the issues examined at the ALI-ABA seminar on Legal Issues in Museum Administration held in Philadelphia. Among the legal issues discussed with the Committee were the governance of publicly supported museums, the changes in tax law by the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and other recent legislation, and the broad scope of legal and ethical issues impacting Museums today. c. Director's Report • Rick reviewed the upcoming 50th anniversary events including a lecture by Jim Moloney about Camp Scurry on April 24th. The Museum is participating in the nationwide display of NOAA's exhibit From Sea to Shining Sea with a grant from the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit Service. It will open on June 215t at the same time as the Prichard Family Foundation funded children's exhibit. There will be a free day on June 23rd. • Rick reported on the budget recently approved by the Friends Board for the expenditure of income from the Museum's Permanent Endowment Fund. • Rick also reported on the results of the Taste of the Coastal Bend event.
