HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Museum Of Science And History Advisory Committee - 10/04/2007 w t7r� 41019 MINUTES Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History • "''� Advisory Committee Meeting October 4,2007 The Museum Advisory Committee met in the Museum's DeDietrich Conference Room at Noon on Thursday, October 4, 2006. Members Present: Jamie Duff, Tom Kimes, Luella Gipson- Torres,Jonda Halcomb, Kimberly Han-is, Robert Hatherill, Kathy Juneau, Nelida Ortiz, and Lucy Sosa. Upon motion by Kathy Juneau and seconded by Tom Kimes, the minutes of the September 6, 2006 meeting were approved as presented. Chairman Nelida Ortiz welcomed new members and asked both new and continuing members to introduce themselves. The new members were reminded that they needed to complete the Texas Open Meetings Act training by December 10th. Business: a. Election of Officers Jamie Duff nominated and Kathy Juneau seconded the nomination of Nelida Ortiz for chairman. Nelida was elected unanimously. Luella Gipson-Torres nominated and Kathy Juneau seconded the nomination of Lucy Sosa as vice chair. Lucy was elected unanimously. b. Rick Stryker presented the Visualized Conceit Study recommendations that had been presented to the City Council on September 11t . An extensive discussion followed which included suggestions that special note be made in future presentations that this was conceptual rather than an architectural plan,that the experience of the Native Americans and African Americans will be included as significant elements of the story line, and that visiting this facility would be an immersive experience much different from the traditional museum experience. c. The report on artifacts and specimens in the collection was tabled until the November meeting. d. The review and discussion of the Service Level Objectives and the Balanced Scorecard metrics for FY 2006/07 and FY 2007/08 were tabled until the November meeting. e. Rick Stryker reported briefly on the upcoming visit beginning October 29th of the tall ship Elissa from Galveston which will be hosted by the Museum and the Parks and Recreation Department. The meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m. SCANNED
