I. Call to Order
Chair, Rene Gutierrez called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm.
II. Roll Call of Members
The recording secretary called roll and announced a quorum was present.

Regular meeting of September 14, 2011
Rita Padron motioned to accept September 14, 2011 minutes.
Huxley Smith seconded.

Special Proiect Task Group—Chair, Rene
Gutierrez asked for volunteers for Trees Task
Force. There was some discussion about Urban
Forrester, Tree City USA, etc. It was suggested
that PRAC receive a presentation from the State
Urban Forrester, before making a decision on
whether to create a Tree Task Force.
Director/Assistant Director -
a. City Code—Waterways Update—Stacie Talbert—Complete list provided for PRAC in Agenda
packet—quite a few of them with items working - LaBonte Park—working on permitting process,
Cole Park—ongoing Bond Project, Suter—making Nature Tourism site, Turtle Cove—one of the 15
Parks, Oso Bay Wetlands Master Plan presented to City Council.
b. FY12 Annual Report—Michael Morris—Provided in Agenda packet. Summarizes
accomplishments for the year, goals for next year, and Performance Measures.
c. Master Plan Update—Michael Morris—Lloyd Lentz with Haltt Associates met with the Master Plan
Committee, shared results of phone and web survey. Interesting things noted, Cole Park outweighed
the other parks by a large amount. The survey asked about current activities and activities they
would like to have, narrowing to 10 priorities to focus on in the recommendations. Huxley Smith
asked what that means for parks that don't make the list. Mr. Morris said that a recommendation
could be made to repurpose, adopt, or made to be more natural. Vice Chair, Lisa Torres asked Rita
Padron, PRAC Liaison to the Master Plan Committee to share her thoughts regarding. Rita has
visited all 196 parks in Corpus Christi and feels that there are definitely parks that are underutilized
and feels that citizens are interested in our parks but haven't been approached.
d. Destination Bayfront Update—Michael Morris—RFP went out for a consultant to design what goes
at Destination Bayfront. Parks and Recreation and Engineering departments have joined with
Destination Bayfront to help in the process. World wide firms making presentations for the RFP.

As there was no further business, Rick Barrera made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Lisa Torres
seconded. There was no opposition. Chair, Rene Gutierrez adjourned at 6:22 pm.
