Regular Meeting
August 14, 2013 5:15 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by C. Haney, Vice-Chairperson. (Chair—Lisa Torres had Laryngitis')
Roll Call
Roll call was conducted by D. Rodriguez and quorum was announced. Members present: S. (S)Campos, J. Kim,
L. Torres, R. Padron, D. Ramirez, R. Woods, C. Valdez Sr., R. Barrera, C. Haney and H. Smith. Liaison(s) present: A. Dimas.
Staff present: M. Morris, S. Talbert, E. Juarez Buentello and D. Rodriguez. R. Avila was absent.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the July 10, 2013 meeting were distributed for review. A motion was made by C. Valdez Sr.
and seconded by S. Campos to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was unanimously approved. Motion Carried.

r Public Comment
R. Padron commented that Alex Ramos, Alex Alsphach, Joseph Hopkins, Jordan Barrera and Emilee Barrera the remaining
student volunteers whose names were unknown at the April meeting will be receiving their Community Service Certificates. S.
Campos was presented with a parting gift by R. Padron and a Certificate of Appreciation by C. Haney for her six years of
Leadership, Commitment and Creative Guidance while serving on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. S. Campos
thanked everyone for their support.
Presentations for Discussion and Possible Action
The CC Mobility Plan Presentation was presented by A. Dimas and E. Juarez Buentello with the Planning Department. A
motion was made by R. Padron and seconded by S. Campos to acknowledge and endorse the plan as presented. The motion
was unanimously approved. Motion Carried.
Old Business and Possible Action
City Council Presentation — C. Haney reported the presentation was ready and will be e-mailed to committee
members this evening. Presentation will be on the September 17th City Council Agenda. Final draft will be provided to
PARD staff by August 23, 2013.
r New Business and Possible Action
• 2013-2014 Task Force Assignments—Item was tabled until next month. A motion was made by C. Haney and
seconded by L. Torres to table the Task Force Assignments until next month. Motion carried.
• Board Member Comments/Announcements—D. Rodriguez distributed the information received from the City
Secretary's Office. After discussion, a motion was made by C. Valdez Sr. and seconded by S. Campos to approve
adding Board Member Comments/Announcements to the Agenda following the Director/Asst. Director's Report. The
motion was unanimously approved. Motion carried.
Committee, Liaison/Staff Reports
• Finance/Marketing Task Force—No report.
• Athletics Task Force—No report
• Program Development Task Force—R.Wood reported meeting with Becky Perrin. Henry Lara and Maggie Medrano
were recognized for the outstanding job they are doing at the recreation centers. A total of 950 kids attended the six
centers this summer. Latchkey Afterschool Fall Registration will begin tomorrow(8/15/13). Athletics-814kids
attended the various summer leagues/camps. Kudos to the P&R Staff. Ten I-Pads were purchased and will circulate
the recreation centers to encourage kids to participate in reading and research programs. The Diabetes Program
received $2,000 from the Driscoll Children's Network. Booths will be set up at different events to promote Diabetes.
They are trying to acquire a qualified individual to do the diabetic testing. Kudos to the P&R staff and their great
programs.
• TAC/Bicycle and Pedestrian Subcommittee Liaison—H. Smith reported they were evaluating the upcoming street
bond improvements to the bike lanes, pedestrian and bus circulation. TxDot and the City of Corpus Christi are
seeking input into street designs before bidding. Signage for"Share the Road is the Law" is up.

• Watershore& Beach Advisory Committee Liaison- No report
• Police Department Report—No report
• Special Project Task Force—No report
• Planning Department Report—No report
• Horticulture Task Force—No report
Director/Assistant Director Report—M. Morris/S.Talbert
• Bond 2012 Update-Several projects have progressed. Meetings have been held on the Hike and Bike Trail along Shannon
Ditch.We have received notification that we received a TxDot Grant between $400,000-$800,000 in addition to the$1.5
million already in hand for the completion of Shannon Ditch from Oso Creek to Saratoga, and also Bear Creek by Bill Witt Park
which is part of that project. Met with the consultant on Bill Witt Park, there is no final scope as of yet. A Stake holders
meeting will be held on September 4t" at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria for the Bill Witt project. HEB(Tennis Center) is being
assessed for recommended improvements. A meeting with CCTA will be held when pricing is received. Contracts should be
completed in the next 90 days.
• Wranosky Skate Park Presentation—Joint venture between City of Corpus Christi and Flour Bluff Business Association. The
park was designed by Grindline Designers and opened at the end of July. The Flour Bluff Business Association funded the
party at the Opening Ceremonies.
• Ben Garza Floor—Has not been laid due to ADA issues.

A motion was made by S. Campos to adjourn the meeting and seconded by R. Pardon. The motion was unanimously
approved. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
