HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Parks And Recreation Advisory Committee - 10/08/2014 PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE Regular Meeting October 8, 2014 5:15 p.m. 6th Floor Conference Room, City Hall 1201 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, TX 78401 ➢ The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by Lisa Torres. ➢ Roll Call Roll call was conducted by Hope Herrera and quorum was announced. Members present: C. Andersen, C. Ford, C. Haney, A. Hunter, D. Lewis, R. Padron, J. Plemons, H. Smith, L. Torres and C.Valdez Sr. Staff present: Michael Morris, Stacie Talbert Anaya, Captain Robert Alvarado and Hope Herrera. Members Absent: J. Kim ➢ Approval of Minutes Minutes from the September 10th meeting were distributed for review. A motion was made by Lisa Torres and seconded by Rita Padron to approve the minutes as submitted. The motion was unanimously approved. Motion Carried. Minutes approved. ➢ Public Comment -none ➢ Presentations for Discussion and Possible Action ➢ Parks and Recreation Seniors and Nutrition Division/Henry Lara and Connie Reschman ➢ Old Business and Possible Action PRAC Annual Report Presentation to City Council — Carlos Haney presented a draft of the report and needed more info in order to complete ➢ New Business and Possible Action Review Annual Open Records Act, By laws—tabled until November 12th meeting Lisa Torres was elected Chair and Carlos Haney as Vice Chair, Rita Padron motioned and Alexis Hunter second. The motion was unanimously approved, motion carried. ➢ Committee, Liaison/Staff Reports • Finance/Marketing Task Force— • Program Development Task Force— • TAC/Bicycle and Pedestrian Subcommittee Liaison— • Planning & Development Task Force— • Watershore& Beach Advisory Committee Liaison— • Police Department Report — Captain Robert Alvarado stated the Panhandling ordinance was in full effect and that was a no tolerance, CCPD also trying to address homeless leaving mess in parks • Special Project Task Force—PRAC Annual Report • Planning Department Report— • Horticulture Task Force— ➢ Director/Assistant Director Report—M. Morris/S.Talbert Anaya a) Update on Artesian Park b) Update on Art Norman project ➢ Committee Member Comments/Announcements: Stacie let everyone know that there will be a Tree training at Collier Park at 2:00 on Thursday ➢ Identify items to be placed on next agenda: PRAC Annual Report Review Annual Open Records Act, By laws ➢ Adlournment -A motion was made by Rita Padron to adjourn the meeting and seconded by Alexis Hunter. The motion was unanimously approved. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:01 p.m.
