Regular Meeting
December 10, 2014 5:15 p.m.

➢ The meeting was called to order at 5:17 p.m. by Lisa Torres.
➢ Roll Call
Roll call was conducted by Hope Herrera and quorum was announced. Members present: C. Ford, C. Haney,
A. Hunter, J. Kim, D. Lewis, J. Plemons, R. Padron, H. Smith, L. Torres and C. Valdez Sr. Staff present: Michael Morris, Stacie
Talbert Anaya, Captain Robert Alvarado and Hope Herrera. Members Absent: C. Anderson
➢ Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the October 8th meeting were distributed for review. A motion was made by Rita Padron and seconded by
Huxley Smith to approve the minutes as submitted. The motion was unanimously approved. Motion Carried.

➢ Committee, Liaison/Staff Reports
• Finance/Marketing Task Force—make list of marketing, survey on Parks& Recreation
• Program Development Task Force— no meeting
• TAC/Bicycle and Pedestrian Subcommittee Liaison—no meeting
• Planning & Development Task Force—no meeting
• Watershore & Beach Advisory Committee Liaison — Michael Morris stated they sent a letter to GLO to pass blocking
driving on seawall on the island, discussed amount of sand on seawall at Packery Channel
• Police Department Report—Captain Robert Alvarado discussed the use of synthetic marijuana is being sprayed with
RAID, increase in overdoses. CCPD conducting special project; 2 officers working on OT of 2-4 hr shifts swiping
Downtown Management District. Trying to get transients to leave the downtown area.
• Special Project Task Force—no meeting
• Planning Department Report—no meeting
• Horticulture Task Force — Carlos Valdez, kudos to high school students who are worried about not enough bench
seating at parks to enjoy
➢ Director/Assistant Director Report—M. Morris/S.Talbert Anaya
a) Michael Morris is leaving the department. He took a position in Annapolis, MD as Director of Recreation and Parks.
➢ Committee Member Comments/Announcements: Michael —"Thank you for your time and service on this board. We have
accomplished a lot of big issues and I hope you continue to do great things."
Lisa—job well done while you were here
Carlos Haney—thank you for your invaluable service and setting the wheels in motion on a lot of projects
Jinsun —thank you
Huxley—you know it's cold there, right?
Alexis—thank you
➢ Identify items to be placed on next agenda:
Special events ordinance how the process runs for parks, streets and CCPD work together for these functions
Rita—report on BMX park on Greenwood and crime report from CCPD on this area
Carlos Haney—Shoreline update
➢ Adlournment -A motion was made by Rita Padron to adjourn the meeting and seconded by Jinsun Kim. The motion was
unanimously approved. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:49 p.m.
