Call to Order at 5:30 pm by Lisa Torres. Roll Call of Members-Roll call was conducted by Hope Herrera. Members present: Alexis Hunter, Jinsun Kim, Rick Pedraza, Jerry Plemons, Huxley Smith, Lisa Torres and Carlos Valdez. Staff present: Stacie Talbert Anaya, Becky Perrin, Hope Herrera, Ramiro Lopez, David Prado Members Absent: Chris Anderson, Curtis Ford, Carlos Haney, Dotson Lewis II. Adoption of Minutes- Regular meeting — Adoption of Minutes from July 8, 2015 motion by Huxley Smith, second Carlos Valdez, motioned carried. III. Public Comment Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the committee from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes members to make a statement of factual information, recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry, or advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at a later date. • New Beach and Natural Resources Superintendent—Ramiro Lopez o Ramiro gave a little background about himself IV. Presentation for Discussion and Possible Action • Parks and Recreation Juvenile Assessment Center/David Prado o An overview of the services they offer for at risk youth and their families o A program to target the area with more reported issues, 78415 o Hours available o They reach out to all area schools to offer services o Meeting with judges to try to get their support to implement follow through of program V. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action • New Director, E. Jay Ellington was absent and was unable to make his introduction VI. Committee, Liaison/Staff Reports • Finance/Marketing Task Force—n/a • TAC/Bicycle and Pedestrian Subcommittee Liaison—n/a • Program Development Task Force—n/a • Special Task Force—RFQ sent, 3 teams responded, they will be reviewed and one chosen by 8/28; La Retama construction to start this week, Art Walk and Farmers Market moved out of La Retama and out to Art Center • Planning & Development Task Force—n/a • Watershore& Beach Advisory Committee Liaison—n/a • Police Department Report—Capt. Robert Alvarado—CCPD continuing on monitoring all parks in the downtown area to make sure transients are not breaking any ordinances. CCPD and City trying to stop the feedings at City Hall. Susan Thorpe, ACM, gave a presentation at council meeting trying to address the Homeless problems. VII. Director/Assistant Director Report • WellMed Agreement is moving along, second reading already, took a trip of seniors to visit site in San Antonio,they came back impressed and excited for the launch here • Ethel Eyerly—meeting with CCPD about transients and them in the park, trying to talk to groups doing the feedings out of the park to make other arrangements, lights are on at Parker Park in parking lot • Budget 2016—General Fund—even budget requested by CM 1%cut;what will it look like? City council to find repairs through General Fund 8-10 million, can't touch Safety or Fire—they make up 78%of Budget with Parks, Library, Solid Waste included; looking into 14% reductions, still going to council will update VIII. Committee Member Comments/Announcements • Lisa Torres—Thank you for allowing her to serve on board and it has been a pleasure IX.
