Call to Order at 5:31 pm by Stacie Talbert Anaya. II. Roll Call of Members-Roll call was conducted by Hope Herrera. Members present: Rick Pedraza, Jerry Plemons, Huxley Smith, Carlos Valdez, Chris Anderson, Dotson Lewis, Kamlesh Bhikha, Adam Alvarez Staff present: Stacie Talbert Anaya, Becky Perrin, Hope Herrera, Jay Ellington, Reba George Members Absent: Curtis Ford, Gary McCoig III. Adoption of Minutes- Regular meeting — Adoption of Minutes from September 9, 2015 motion by Carlos Valdez, second Huxley Smith, motion carried. IV. Public Comment Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the committee from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes members to make a statement of factual information, recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry, or advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at a later date. V. Presentation for Discussion and Possible Action—None VI. Old Business for Discussion and Possible Action—Committee Assignments tabled until November meeting VII. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action Introduction of Consultants/overview and input session (programming) Ken Ballard of Ballard, King and Associates and Chuck Musgrave of KBR met with board to discuss what changes the board members would like to see with facilities we currently have and what they would like to have in the future. They asked what types of activities they would like to see at the different facilities and what hours. They took ideas and suggestions, complaints and concerns from all the members. They reported that they will have a few visits with this group over the course of the next year. Commended the Department on lots of Senior programming along with Youth programs as well. The consultants also liked that our City has a unique structure with senior centers and recreation centers as duos in some places. Committee Input: Carlos Valdez—need more youth services to decrease crime rate and increased hours of operations for pools and senior centers Rick Pedraza—more after school programs and generational centers with seniors and youth Huxley Smith—more funding for P&R, Garden Council to meet freely at Garden Senior Center Chris Anderson—expansion on youth programs, partnerships with CCISD for future planning to educate on growth with park positions, and putting recreation with education Adam Alvarez—need learning annex for revenue VIII. Committee and Liaison Reports: No reports Director/Assistant Director Report a. Accreditation—1 Cities in Texas—attached b. Recap of National Recreation and Park Association—built a partnership with Austin c. Capital Project Update—attachment of memo regarding Easement payments, need to try to get money off park land like this project attached X. Committee Announcements/Comments: Chris Anderson—Kay Space finalized Day of Dead at Artwork, release went well Huxley Smith—report on Mike Morris please, Stacie updated that Mike is doing well XI. Identify Items for next agenda: • Committee assignments • Sherrill Park—how is it handled, reservations, etc • Artesian Park Update XII.
