MINUTES I. Call to Order by Chairman Rick Pedraza at 5:30 pm ii. Roll Call of Members-Roll call was conducted by Hope Herrera. Members present: Chris Anderson, Adam Alvarez, Kamlesh Bhikha, Dotson Lewis, Alissa Mejia, Rick Pedraza and Huxley Smith Staff present: Stacie Talbert Anaya, Becky Perrin, Hope Herrera, Jay Ellington and Aimee Alcorn-Reed Members Absent: Gary McCoig, Doug McBee, Jerry Plemons and Carlos Valdez III. Adoption of Minutes- Regular meeting — May 11, 2016 meetings, First Dotson Lewis, Second Adam Alvarez, all in favor IV. Public Comment-none Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the committee from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes members to make a statement of factual information, recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry, or advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at a later date. David Pierce would like some help getting CCPD familiar with ordinances pertaining to sand dunes. ISAC and WBAC working on issue. Possibly implementing a fee to enter beach to be able to pay for beach law enforcement regarding the dunes. V. Executive session pursuant to Texas Government Code§551.071 and Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct Rule 1.05 to consult with attorneys concerning legal issues related to conveyance, lease, and sale of City property and pursuant to Texas Government Code§ 551.072 to discuss and deliberate the purchase, exchange, lease, and value of real property located at 521 Josephine Street known as Ben Garza Park when deliberation in open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the governmental body in negotiations with a third person. (CLOSED SESSION—CONFIDENTIAL) VI. Presentation for Discussion and Possible Action 1. July is Park and Recreation Month—talked about events going on to celebrate 2. Program Master Plan—Consultants showed Power Point and discussed Phase II of plan—Motion moved to continue Recreation Master Plan—First Huxley Smith, Second Adam Alvarez, all in favor. Motion to approve to move forward to the standard of.7 and increasing to 1.0 in 15 years—First Huxley Smith, Second Chris Anderson VII. Old Business for Discussion and Possible Action VIII. Committee, Liaison/Staff Reports— • Finance/Marketing Task Force—No report—work on scheduling meeting • Horticulture Task Force—Huxley Smith—No Report • Program Development Task Force—No Report • Watershore&Beach Advisory Committee Liaison—Planning&Development Task Force— No Report • Planning&Development Task Force—Oso Creek Meeting on July 11th • Special Project Task Force—No Report • Island Strategic Action Committee Liaison—Jay said there was nice compliments about Beach Ops Director/Assistant Director Report ➢ Parker Pool Update—2 year lease agreement, working on issues they were supposed to be open Memorial Day, hoping that the pool is filling now. Supposed to be getting certified by Health Dept and open soon—same fees as ours. ➢ Update on Community Gardens—4 Community Gardens partnering with schools and rec centers to teach kids how to grow and pick IX. Committee Member Comments/Announcements Huxley—talking to council—need director to be Stacie and Jay to remain as ACM; status on committee to commission Chris—Saturday, June 181h—Go Skating Day at Cole Park from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, fundraiser for skate park renovations. Having a work day tomorrow to replace rail and concreate repairs to continue to try of make the park safer, starting at 8:30 am until lunch time Stacie—Oso Bay Wetlands Grand Opening—inviting all members, Friday June 101h at 9:00 am XI.
