MINUTES
I. Call to Order by Dotson Lewis at 5:30 pm
II. Roll Call of Members: Dotson Lewis, Jerry Plemons, Bobby Broderick, Amy McCoy, Alissa Mejia,
Casandra Lorentson, Mandy Cox, Howard Schauer, Flo East, Hannah Husby and Twila Stevens.
Excused absence: Jerry Plemons.
III. Adoption of Minutes- Regular meeting — Adoption of Minutes from June 19, 2019— 1St, Amy McCoy,
2nd Hannah Husby, Unanimous thereafter.
IV. Public Comment— None.
V. Police Department Report—Captain William Broyles provided an update on Parker Park concern raised
the previous month. Amy McCoy thanked CCPD and Park staff for their support of the Mayor's Big Bang
Celebration.
VI. Presentations
• Bill Witt Park Improvements—Overview provided by Joshua Wentworth, Park Operations
Superintendent.
VII. Old Business
• Splash Pads and Community Enrichment Fund briefing will go to City Council in July. Staff
outlined the purchasing process.
VIII. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action
• None
IX. Committee, Liaison/Staff Reports—
Island Strategic Action Committee— Island POA is requesting meeting to discuss adoption of all
the parks on the Island.
Watershore & Beach Advisory Committee—no report
London & Southside Area Advisory Committee—Casandra Lorentson reported a meeting will be
held July 12 and committee will review draft plans.
X. Director Report— Becky Perrin, Assistant Director
• Games of Texas 2020—Overview of planning committees
• Sherrill Park—meeting held with stakeholders for shade structure design ideas
• Mowing —working on plan to increase the mowing cycles 7-14-21 goal is to mow all in 14 day
cycle.
• Blucher Park Ordinance is slated to be presented to City Council at end of month.
• City and County working on community message for rip tide alerts utiliting reversealert.org
• Fencing Project— possible Eagle Scout Project (Amy McCoy is the point of contact)
