I. CALL TO ORDER OF THE PARKS&RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

Senior Member,Anne Baker called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS:
The recording secretary called roll for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee and announced
that a quorum was not present.

III. CALL TO ORDER OF THE GREENS COMMITTEE:
Chair, Bill Alley called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m.
IV. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS:
The recording secretary called roll for the Greens Committee and announced that a quorum was not
present.

V. BUSINESS:
Presentation of The First Tee Program
Jason Luby,Jr.,representing The First Tee as the Chairman of their committee and Dan Florcyk,
Executive Director/Program Director for the Tiger Olivarez Golf and Literacy Academy, Inc. gave
information and answered questions about The First Tee's lease request with the City.
The First Tee is a National Youth Development program started in 1997 to teach life skills to under
privileged youth and has grown to currently offer their lessons to all youth. This group is requesting a
lease with the City to use the Lozano Golf Center to provide this program to our local youth.

The First Tee program has national supporters, matching grants,fundraising, and scholarships.
Supplier discounts and course improvements are incentives for host golf courses. Youth learn the
rules of golf and core values of social living. After completing the program, students are eligible to
apply for college merit scholarships. The literacy part of this program is new to The First Tee
program. Success of this program could also be beneficial to the city.
Discussion was held regarding the composition of their local Board of Directors,qualifications of their
Executive Diredtor,anticipated budget and number of youth participants.
The committee thanked Mr. Luby and Mr. Florcyk for this informational meeting.

VI. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC:
Mr. Rene Gaylen,3365 Tiger Lane for Board Commissioner, requested he be considered to serve on
the local board for this program. Mr. Luby welcomed his interest.
VII. ADJOURNMENT:
Anne Baker adjourned the meeting of the Parks&Recreation Advisory Committee at 5:45 pm.
Bill Alley adjourned the meeting of the Greens Committee at 5:46 pm.
