I. CALL TO ORDER OF THE PARKS& RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Vice Chair, Greg Perkes called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS
The recording secretary called roll and announced that a quorum was present.
III. ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Regular Meeting, October 10,2006
Carl Suding made a motion to accept the minutes. Mari Whitworth seconded. Motion passed.
Secretary, K Chute, noted an error in the September 13,2006 minutes. Garrett Dorsey was noted absent in
error. Mr. Dorsey did attend the meeting. The committee approved the correction.

V. BUSINESS
A. PRESENTATIONS
Introduction of new Parks 8 Recreation Staff
Sally Gavlik, Director, introduced the new member, Rene Gutierrez,who was welcomed by the
members.

VI. COMMITTEE, LIAISONISTAFF REPORTS
FINANCE/BUDGET SUB-COMMITTEE:
Reba George provided a handout report regarding the Parks & Recreation Department's expenditures and
revenues for the quarter ending October 31, 2006. Sally Gavlik noted the golf item's figure should be
reviewed with the construction project in mind.

GREENS SUB-COMMITTEE:

Cad Suding reported that during their meeting of October 31"the new construction portion of the course
was toured. Discussion was held regarding the re-opening delay.
The committee then discussed a possible tribute to Red Taylor for his years of golf support. Carl Suding
made a motion for a Red Taylor Memorial Plaque to be placed at the Oso Golf Center with funding to come
from the golf association groups. Teresa Carrillo seconded. Motion passed.
PLANNING DEVELOPMENT SUB-COMMITTEE:
Jaime Pyle said their committee met, reviewed the plats and supports the staff recommendation. A
summary handout was provided.
Sally Gavlik noted updates for the Community Enrichment Fund notebooks would be provided semi-
annually.
Buddy Sparks requested a status update on the UDC project.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:
Dorrinda Garza is working with staff to compile the staff contact list for their committee meetings.
SPECIAL PROJECTS:
Billy Delgado provided an update summary handout on the Enrichment Funds Projects, the CDBG projects,
and the 2004 Bond Projects. It was also noted that staff is working with CCPD on the idea of placing a gate
at Cole Park.
Richard Thompson noted the recent and planned tree planting projects. The CC Beach planting of 90
palms is the largest project planned at this time. Collaboration with the Texas Forest Service for tree
planting at schools and in neighborhood communities also continues.
DIRECTOR:
Sally Gavlik informed the committee of the Council's support for the TPWD Resolution. She noted the 2007
Walk the Halls event will be January 17111. Members were invited to participate in the walk and reception to
meet their State Representatives and Senators in support of this resolution. Members may contact K Chute
for additional information.
VII. COMMITTEE CONCERNS
Teresa Carrillo suggested staff provide the committee a 'Wish List. The committee could consider how to
support the department. She also noted the deterioration of downtown and uptown areas. She suggested
additional tree planting could help.

As there was no further business, Buddy Sparks made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mari Whitworth
seconded. The meeting was adjourned by Greg Perkes at 6:00 pm.
